No.It makes no sense that way.

Yes, you should watch it in broadcast order. Watching Haruhi in chronological order is like watching Memento in chronological order; it loses some of it's impact. In this regard, the last episode is totally "awesome".

Anyways, I like it too. I started watching it because I saw the dance once and it was awesome, but there's a reasonably good anime to go with it.
