Matt Groening looks to the future

Matt Groening looks to the future - CNN.com

Quote:
CNN: I feel like Comic Book Guy talking to Jack Kirby -- or perhaps Jack Davis.

Matt Groening: (huge laugh) Well, I've met both of them -- Jack Kirby and Jack Davis! They're both heroes of mine. So I can relate. They're definitely part of my pantheon of great artists.

CNN: Let's move over to "Futurama." Is this the end?

Groening: We hope not. If it is, we feel we're offering an emotionally satisfying conclusion to this epic science fiction saga. But we did leave the door open just a bit in case we get renewed.

CNN: Is that in the offing?

Groening: We're having discussions and there is some enthusiasm but I can't tell if it's just me. (laughs)
A possibility of new Futurama episodes?

Yes, that pleases me.

It's nice to know there's a possibility Groening won't waste all of his life on the Simpsons

I have to say when Futurama first came out I thought "Finally, they are making something that is funny."

It seems like no one even watches the Simpsons anymore yet it remains on the air. I personally haven't watched an episode of the Simpsons since probably the 5th or 6th grade. This was 8-10 years ago!

I thought the fate of Futurama depended on 1 how well the DVD movies did and 2 how wellit's ratings on Comidey centrall preformed?
