You can now create your own forums. The script is kinda buggy (okay, very buggy), but it fits the purpose and ultimately is functional. As the forum owner, you will also be its moderator (you will get mod powers in your own forum only). You can appoint other people as owners, but keep in mind that anyone you appoint can delete you as an owner, so you should be co-owners only with somone you trust. All new forums will need to be approved by admins before they will be allowed.

I'm still considering exactly how to implement this. Obviously, new forum users have been banned from creating new forums. Beyond that, I'm thinking maybe limiting it to people who have 500+ posts and have been here for 6+ months. The numbers may go up or down, but that's basically what I'm thinking at this point.

As for private forums, I don't really want to go that route. I'm not opposed to password protecting the forums, but approving individuals one by one would require a new usergroup, which after enough would become tedious. Perhaps have this as a reward for reaching X amount of posts in your forum.

Interesting. If it weren't for the bit about admin approval, I'd be rather concerned.

I'll submit any forum ideas...But I cant think of any...The only one I got approvel for was the EWJ forum. I should be mod for that forum. I came up with it.

It's your forum, so it can be for whatever you want, even nothing at all. I've created a new usergroup that will allow you to create forums once you meet the above criteria (6 months and 500 posts).

I'm comfortable compromising on that point. I've dropped it to 4.5 months.
