Anyone working on any big art projects?

Writing a long piece? Working on a painting? Making a comic book? Talk about it here.

Me, personally, I'm working on writing a movie. I haven't started writing the script yet, but I have the two main characters almost fully developed and the basic idea of the plotin mind. I will admit, I'm much better at creating individual scenes and characters and director-type stuff (camera angles, color usage, musical score) than I am developing full stories, but I think this one might turn out to be good.

Arrow waha

Mmm. I always have this (console) RPG design in the back of my head. I have four main characters, a cast of bad bosses, a semi-futuristic corporate-ruled setting, and various other doodads that aren't enough to make a complete game design. What I'm really missing is a coherent story, as well as fingering a development platform to make it on. I'll probably bug VGF one day with what I got so far, and get some 'feedback' on my 'work'.

Aside: Sometimes it surprizes me how creative VGF members can be. It really shouldn't, because really anyone has the ability to learn to do anything; it's just a matter of preference and perseverance.

Same here. I've got a stack of notebooks in my closet dating back to elementary school with old ideas for video games, movies, songs, etc. (Most of the older stuff sucks to me now, though...)

Yeah, though, I remember reading about this advice from this creative guy. He talks about having the ability to discard old pet ideas that grew fondly in your (less expereinced) past, but are now anachronistic; things that no amount of polishing can make something better, versus what you can make up originally now.

Nah, I just keep them for nostalgia. I don't actually want to create them.

I kind of understand what you mean. Sometimes it takes more than just polishing to make something workable; if you have a "pet" idea that wasn't good to start with but want to save it anyway, you basically have to take the elements that can work and then flesh out the story or whatever in an entirely different frame. That is hard to do, too - I've done it like five times.

My projects:

Element Tradition (Story of elementals and a few other doodads. Read the excerpt to see what I'm talking about.)

Dawao Guardians. (Really amorphous right now, a good idea for either an RPG or a book, I have it outlined and most of the heroes and villains have bios and such done for them.)

Project Snare. (An original story based around a very untraditional vampire-style storyline. I only have a key point outline and a few characters right now, but not much.)

Project Cornucopia (Centers around a sort of Christian Bible type of thing, some references and a sort of allegory type area or two. Mainly about war, though, only with characters called "Prophets" and mechanical Archangels called the "Red Ones." built to be intriguingly odd, with the angel characters fightning humans. Oh well, just a 'pet' idea, it may never work or be used.)

Project Wall (A psuedo-philosphycal kind of story, with a VERY complicated back-story. I could tell about it, but seriously, it is VERY complicated. Probably the most complicated that I have.)

Project Mythos (basically greek mythology and several other mythologies mixed up. Only a small brainchild, but it has some documents and bios behind it, unlike certain other projects.)

Project Grand Lethal (Me and Vergal are working on this one together, basically an unpolished tale with little behind it.)

Not to mention all of the other small projects that have been planted. I have several things being prepared to be used, and like Malik, I have HUNDREDS of ducuments and notebooks full of illustrations, figure drawings, bios and documents on story, key-point outlines, songs, and so on. I live, basically, to write and create.

I've had a story in my head I've been polishing for about half my lifetime. It's unlikely it'll ever be published, though.

^^^Actually, the original screenplay I'm stuck on is kind of like that. I've toyed with the premise & plot since...I dunno, probably 10 years ago, and when I finally started writing it in 2004, the entire setup & story were different, and only a few of the characters were even remotely like the original concept. The title is exactly the same, though.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

I have plans for what will likely become a computer/video game or in the very least, a series of graphic novels. I had made an initial stab at the game idea, but my friend who partnered it with me fell ill with meningitis, suddenly, and was put to rest. It's really all in my head, though. I'd share some of that here, but I like to keep my ideas to myself until they come to fruition. I've done character sketches/design, so it wouldn't take much to convert it all to a graphic novel. American manga, anyone?

I'm trying to make a skate video and put good songs in it and stuff. The only hard part is putting it all in a good order.

In reality, I just do projects in my Graphic Arts classes. Things like designing websites in Freehand, Hand Drawing thumbnails for WEB Graphics, and creating gif banners.

However, I do have an analog RPG (filed in a back drawer) and once I suck less, a webcomic in collaberation with Acradius.
