Dusk settles on its cane. Silence like a moan. No one but Pigeon, bundled in a black blanket, book on her lap, mittened hands sweating, wind picking up her hair. The door opens far away, and the tired light hits the woman in green. Her long coat and scarf ride the swagger of her shoulders. Wind-touched tendrils frame her stormy face. Pigeon’s pencil shakes across the page. Boots click on the cold sidewalk far away. Gone in less than a minute. No one but Pigeon, bundled in a black blanket, book on her lap, mittened hands sweating, wind picking up her hair. |
