That's amazing, CL, your best anything yet! Seriously, the perspective and colors are damn near perfect! What you've done with the path is brilliant, it really compliments the flow of the image. When you look at an image, your mind processes it from the lower left corner upwards and across, so balanced diagonal lines that move across the image like that are very stimulating. Plus, the muted lines in the background are in perfect contrast with the dark lines in the foreground. The glowing mushrooms are my favorite part. Very expertly composed. :) I'm sure you could do some amazing stuff with Photo Shop layers.

To be honest, when I did it at first, the glowing mushrooms weren't... glowy enough. So, I added a layer of black, made it transparent, and erased the part over the mushrooms and the tree's eyes. Then I added another such layer and erased these bits again and also where the mushrooms reflected off of the grasses and stuff.

And I think the crosshatching on the road was because I didn't know how else to make it look gravelly. I'm glad it worked out fine.

Also, I'm reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllly happy with the shading on the rock, too. I didn't expect it to come out that well. >_<

Cool, although I wouldn't recognize it as a ToS fanart if you hadn't sad it was. Still, a good picture. Very nice lines and proportions. Much tighter "greying" than you usually do, I'm guessing you spent a bit more time on this one.

Part of it's the eyelashes. Drop thems, and there wouldn't be any confusion with gender. There are certain ways to use different elements to define gender, and eyelashes are normally a very effeminate thing; you'd have to go out of your way to add other masculine features to contradict it, if you still wanted to include them. A good example of what defines a male figure, traditionally: Short, messy hair. Bushy/aggro eyebrows. Thick noses, with a very european flatness between the eyes. Extra emphasis on a realistic nose, for that matter. Hard, angular lines. Skintone lips/mouth with just a lower lip. Adam's apple. Broad shoulders. Dimpled chin, especially with a square jaw structure. Lacking breastsesez (very important, otherwise you will just be drawing a very ugly woman).

Those things used together will make your characters masculine looking.
