I think it's the highlights that really do it. I mean, I wanted it to look like leather, and I actually have a jacket that color, so I didn't have to think too hard about how the light reflects off it. I was really satisfied with the way the shading came out, though.

This comment is awesome, for sheer fact that it actually focuses on something I understand. VGFers aren't much for conversation, it would seem. Still, I'll take all the "WOW AWESOME" comments I can get! XD

Hell yeah. I wish I had a real print-emulating rasterizing filter. That would own. I felt that the picture was good, but too boring just as it was. I used a cutout filter with a half-opacity to clean up some of the lines, since I just went and did the shading straight over the sketch. I made the picture with the cutout in mind, and it turned out mostly how I wanted (although it did kill some of the details I put into the joints - little gears and pistons and such).

Here's a detail of an earlier-on version:



The reduction in detail certainly puts into perspective how I might speed up the production, though, in case I need to reproduce him in several images (like in comic form).
