Another odd book coming from me. This one is actually a lot like the previous book I had mentioned, and it might have even taken some inspiration from it. Anyway, the book itself is called The Scrittore Case, and it isn't very long at all. Only about 166 pages. Anyway, right off the bat, The Scrittore Case claims to be true, and says that all of the events within the book happened. It's very much like The Blair Witch Project. Anyway, the book you hold is a compilation of data on a "mystery case" dubbed "The Scrittore Case". The book contains 11 parts. Only 1 of them is the main piece, while the others are "interviews" and "articles" based on the events within the main piece.

Okay then. Moving on to the actual plot of the book. It's based in Schenectady, New York, in 1994, at the Bode family house. 8 people were found dead. 7 teenagers, and 1 middle-aged man. Their identities were all confirmed, but the only important characters are George Bode, the middle-aged man, Ian Bode, who is his nephew, and Jake Scrittore, one of Ian's friends. When the parents of the other teenagers were asked questions, it was said that the teens were going to Ians uncle's home for a small "We graduated high school" party. However, it wasn't much of a party. After a search of the house, police found a manuscript. It was written by Jake Scrittore, and also written in the first person. So from then on, the manuscript was called "The Scrittore Manuscript."

The Scrittore Manuscript is divided into 13 sections, labeled 0 to 12. Each section corresponds to the day. So, the Scrittore Manuscript takes place over 12 days. On Day 0, the teens arrive at the house, and George Bode leaves to get the teens some pizza for their party. However, George never returns, so the teens slept there for the night. In Day 1's morning, the teens don't exactly get off to a good start. They wake up and see that the sun hasn't risen. Infact, the sky is completely black. There are no stars, there isn't a moon and there's obviously no sun. They try to escape the house and the general area, but it's impossible. No matter what path they take, whether it's through the woods or on dirt roads, they always end up back at the house. This continues for eleven days, and one by one, the teens die. On the last day, Day 12, only Jake Scrittore is alive. When he awakes on Day 12, he sees the sun, and the sky has regained color once more. Instead of embracing it, he writes the Scrittore Manuscript from his perspective, and hangs himself in the forest.

The problem here, is that George Bode had a different story. George HAD left for pizza and other food, but he had only been gone for a total of 40 minutes. When he returned to the house later that night, on "Day 0", he discovered that his TV was smashed in. Instantly scared of a break-in, he called out for his nephew. Instead, he found one of the dead teens bodies lying around. He also found the manuscript, and read it. Shortly after, he phoned the police. About 5 minutes into the call, he had yelled out over the phone, "God almighty, I understand." and hung up. When the police arrived, they found George on the floor with a hole in the back of his head and a bloody shotgun lying next to him.

The police had read the manuscript, and while some of it made perfect sense, other parts seemed impossible. For example, while it seemed like what had happened in real life was a 40 minute freak murder, was actually something much bigger. In the manuscript, one of the teens died and was buried in the backyard on Day 7. The police found fresh graves in the back, and were amazed to find that the bodies inside of the graves had been inside for at least 4 days. While at first, the manuscript seemed to be nothing more than a teenager's story involving his friends, it turned out to be much more truthful and a decent into madness. Text is misplaced and distorted throughout the manuscript, and really does seem like a crazy teenager's story.

The book itself, "The Scrittore Case" was pretty interesting, and hard to put down. Pretty inexpensive too, at about 15 dollars for a story like this. So, I dunno. If it seems like that would appeal to you, go search for it.
