How 1-up Spent His Summer #2: Rock Band, rocking out, and rocking my world.

Posted 06-19-2011 at 12:07 AM by 1-up Salesman
So, yeah, hey guys. Yes, I know, I've been busy and tired lately, so I haven't updated Attack of the Spammers. Trust me, I'll be updating soon, with a "special" (in my opinion) story coming up that will refer back to the earlier parts of the story.

For the most part, life's been good. I've been getting into Rock Band 2 for the Wii, and I played with my little brother. Despit the fact that neither of us are really great at the game, we had a blast, to put it simply.

He was playing the drums, I was playing the guitar on hard mode. To put it simply, we were sucking. We put it on No Fail mode, and I've been getting a bit better on hard mode. My little brother decided he wanted to do the microphone, so once it was on 'No Fail' mode, we went with it.

And he decided he wanted to try Screamcore singing/joking rather than just doing normal singing, for a good bulk of the time. And it was hilarious. Not that it sounded especially like the legitimate screaming, but it made playing so much fun. Rather than "It's the eye of the tiiiiger" it's "IT'S THEEYEOFTHETIGERERJRALRJOEJAL!!!!"

So, yeah, very fun. I've gotten kind of addicted to the song "PDA" by Interpol. Very enjoyable.

I've been listening to music lately; I'm often addicted.

My Current Album Wishlist

Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys- My Chemical Romance

Discovering the Waterfront- Silverstein

The Emptiness- Alesana

Very enjoyable stuff. Danger Days is like a sort of synthy power-pop deal, but it doesn't suck. A lot of just out-of-character guitar strumming and stuff; it's really creative and the concept behind the album's story is rad.

Discovering the Waterfront is your basic Silverstein, which is cool. Entertaining and catchy tunes, and Shane Told's vocals are very enjoyable to listen to.

The Emptiness is a sick concept album taking place in the year 1898, about a sketch artist who finds his lover Annabel killed. It's based off of and/or inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's poem "Annabel Lee" and some of his other work, as well as a "Friday the 13th" influence, apparently. The man is afraid that he was the one to kill Annabel, and goes out into the town, his sight a delusional blur between fantasy and reality, haunted by visions of his fallen lover and her murderer. He goes on a murderous spree throughout the town, and tries to take revenge on Annabel's murderer.

Personal life's been okay, I suppose. It's nice that I'm in summer vacation; I learned that for the WHOLE year of 2012 there will be no full Doctor Who Series, just a few specials. That really sucks, and will probably have something to do with the reason, whatever it may be, for the world ending in such a year.

I'm always thinking; I've been enjoying drawing in my notebook, and I'd like to make something of my drawing. A project or something. I need my own drawing tablet to use for the computer, though I suck at using them.

I played through Mega Man 6, starting yesterday and finishing today. I saved using the emulator; it's probably either my second or third time finishing the underrated gem. I'm thinking third.

I like how when you switch between armor, in the "transformation sequence" the words 'MEGA MAN VI' are at the top of the screen, just kind of sitting there with all their Roman-numeral fanciness. Kinda' like "MEGA MAN VI, B****."

Enjoying blogging. You enjoying reading?

Still looking forward to that update, bud. Sprite me had better watch out, though, lest SD get DOUBLE STOLEN.

PC tablets are great and all, but the ones that are in your price range are very inaccurate (unless you've got a spare grand or more). My suggestion? If you've got any sort of income, save your money and at least buy an Intuos as the cheapest, but do drafts on paper so you've got something steadier to follow. The cheaper the tablet, the more annoying wiggles come up in the lines, and that won't help you improve as an artist. Scanners in the consumer range come cheap, so that shouldn't be a bank-breaker for anyone.

^ Thanks- I was trying to use a tablet my dad bought for himself, and I was having a pretty hard time with it. I need to get some printer paper so the notebook lines won't be there, and maybe something for inking purpose.

I have a scanner/printer, but somehow lost the driver for the scanner when my laptop was being cleaned out due to viruses and the sort. I tried to download a driver, but I think what I went to was fake and some sort of virus-type deal. Still looking...

Mega Man 6 is pro.

And as cool as the transformation sequence is, it's even cooler to skip the pause screen altogether in MMAC, making for some pretty epic speedrunning.
