My summers never used to be this eventful. I often just found myself wasting time in front of the computer, playing videogames, and occasionally hanging out with Cory and Mark. I haven't seen Mark in ages, since he moved to Pittsburgh. In fact, the last "road trip" I'd had before this was going to Pittsburgh to visit him last year during winter break. The sun sank into the mountains, and the long day turned into a cold night. We were all exhausted from the long drive as we checked into our hotel. The five of us had booked one double room. Four of us would occupy the two beds and one would get the couch. I knew I wouldn't be sharing a bed with Faye. I knew who would.

We went to the room and unpacked. Instead of going to sleep right away, we went out to the All-Night diner across the street from the hotel.

She was seated next to me sound asleep, in the middle of the backseat of the car. I kept trying to will her head onto my left shoulder, but apparently she was unable to receive my telepathic messages I was sending her.

Note to self: Don't watch Star Wars while on Vicodin. It seriously messes you up for life. No matter how hard you try, you cannot use the force.
