I feel like I always have some trouble coming up with what to say here. OTL
Just a note: These are my monthly favorite covers of songs originally uploaded on Nico Nico Douga.

Guriri - Bouquet (Miku Hatsune)

゜･*⋇▫☸⊱∗ﾟ:ღ｡☸｡ღ:ﾟ∗⊰☸▫⋇*･ﾟ☸▫.❁｡☸.。･❁*▫☸⊱∗ﾟ゜･*⋇▫☸⊱∗ﾟ :ღ゜･*⋇▫☸゜･*⋇▫☸⊱∗ﾟ:ღ｡☸｡ღ
With that out of the way... I really like the girly pastel colors used in this video.

Aki Akane - Out of the Hole (Miku Hatsune)

<if condition="$show['member']">Click to view video.</if>

If this was sung by anyone else, I don't think I'd like it. It sounds sort-of generic, but Aki Akane's voice is so cool and powerful I ended up really liking this. :p The chorus is awesome.

Akatin - Jenga (Miku Hatsune)

<if condition="$show['member']">Click to view video.</if>

This is unusual. Usually Akatin sings rock songs. He sounds pretty good here, though. Even though his voice is still strong, it's a lot softer than usual.

Rui - Track (Luka Megurine)

<if condition="$show['member']">Click to view video.</if>

Rui's voice sounds super-smooth as usual. I love you too, Rui. :3

ShounenT - Niji (Original by Ninomiya Kazunari)

<if condition="$show['member']">Click to view video.</if>

ShounenT's voice has so much cute boyish charm! I always enjoy his guitar/vocal covers (´・ω・`)

Pokota - Letter Song (Miku Hatsune)

<if condition="$show['member']">Click to view video.</if>

When I first heard Letter Song, I said, "Isn't this on the 25 Vocaloid Medley?" But when I looked it up, I found out that it was the MEIKO/KAITO duet "Yuuhi Saka" instead. The two songs sound extremely similar! Like almost identical. Why would Doriko do this to my emotions? TAT Anyway, Pokota sounds extremely professional as usual. No complaints here.

Au - Do Re Mi Fa Rondo (Miku Hatsune)

<if condition="$show['member']">Click to view video.</if>

Cutest song ever written. EVER. Adorable dog is adorable. This sounds like a song for a kids show or something. Au's voice is really smooth and clean. Totally perfect for this.

Ohagi - Dokugaron Code: Altered (GUMI)

<if condition="$show['member']">Click to view video.</if>

Huh. I haven't heard much from Ohagi, but she has a really deep, soft voice. All those monitors must be expensive. <_>

Owata - Oni wo Aisuru Hito (MEIKO)

<if condition="$show['member']">Click to view video.</if>

This is "The Person who Loves a Demon." Owata's voice is a little rough, but I really like the unfinished character of it. Nine times out of ten, a song Owata sings really grows on me. <3 Anyway, I think what really struck me the most about this was the video. I really enjoy the story it tells. Warning: Maybe a seizure. Like around 2:40.

KK - Betsu ni-kun to Kirai-chan (Miki)

<if condition="$show['member']">Click to view video.</if>

<strike>Hey it's the girl with the tree growing out of her head.</strike> The title is "Nothing-kun and Hate-chan." Or something similar. This is the first of two KK songs on here. This month for some reason he decided to try singing songs differently than he usually does. In this song, his voice is really even and stable. It's a big contrast to his usual cool, messy singing. Anyway, off topic, but is that Snoopy? I think that's Snoopy.

Ritsuka - Keikaku Toshi (Miku Hatsune)

<if condition="$show['member']">Click to view video.</if>

The title of this one is "Planned City." Autotuuuuune. Ritsuka has a really nice voice! Unfortunately, I usually skip over her covers since she usually sings (imo) generic ballads. <_> This one is great, though.

Soraru - Headphone Actor (IA)

<if condition="$show['member']">Click to view video.</if>

Rememer last month I talked about the new vocalid IA? Seems like she has this song under her belt now too. Anyway, Soraru covers this with his usual rough voice. I think the music is really great here. The tone is a lot like Jin's previous song, Kagerou Days. That song was a lot more popular than this one though.

Rib - Sleep Sky Walk (GUMI)

<if condition="$show['member']">Click to view video.</if>

I really like how laid-back Rib sounds singing this. The video is mostly MMD. The shortness of GUMI's skirt made all the buildings explode. Either that or it was her horrible dancing. But I think it was a dream anyway. <_>

Kouhei - Ren'ai Yuusha (GUMI)

<if condition="$show['member']">Click to view video.</if>

Heh. Kouhei always sounds so epic. The title is Passionate Hero. I think Kouhei's voice fits perfectly with that title. Maybe too well...

Dasoku and Ren - Nekomimi Archive (Miku Hatsune)

<if condition="$show['member']">Click to view video.</if>

Upskirt. The title of this is something along the lines of "Cat Ears Archive." I think Dasoku and Ren cold sing just about anything together and it would sound awesome. <3

Yorukichi - Chronophobia (Rin Kagamine)

<if condition="$show['member']">Click to view video.</if>

Chronophobia is the fear of time. I'm a big fan of most creepy songs, so this shouldn't really be a surprise. And as usual, Yorukichi's harmonies sound amazing! For some reason, this doesn't have very many views on NND. :( I wish more people knew about the awesomeness of Yorukichi.

Espei - Nibyoukan (GUMI)

<if condition="$show['member']">Click to view video.</if>

Oh no, GUMI! Run from the crazy block dinosaur! Hey, you! Rabbit! Save that bitch! That's right! Run without moving your feet at all because the animators are lazy. Also, that gun is badly drawn wtf. Does your gun shoot swords or something? Are you smoking a pipe? How do you use a piece of paper to block a mouth-laser? What's going on in this vid? Warning: Blurry pixelated closeups and badly drawn animation ahoy.

Faneru - Domino Taoshi (Miku Hatsune)

<if condition="$show['member']">Click to view video.</if>

"Toppling Domino" I really like the video for this song! It's really cute and also a little creepy. The colors are nice too. The song is about a girl that likes to destroy budding relationships. She compares relationships to dominoes. Like building a relationship is setting up the dominoes and it's way too easy for her to come up and knock them all down.

Gero, DoruJAPAN, Xianlong, Noah, Meru, and Helium - Rescue Fire (Original by JAM Project)

<if condition="$show['member']">Click to view video.</if>

oAo Another super epic collab of a JAM Project song. For me, Gero always makes these shine. :3 So, the original song is the opening to a Japanese live-action show called Tomica Hero: Rescue Fire based on the Tomica toy car line. Apparently the show is about a group of people called the United Fire-Defense Agency that saves people from Super-Fire created by demons. <_>

Another Yorukichi song. This one is kind-of short. Yes. I am biased. But this is my listing. Leave me alone. :O FFFF- Yorukichi's rough voice is always awesome.
"Hurting for a Very Hurtful Pain" Kakkee! This is amazing! This is the same producer who did Cyber Thunder Cider (EZFG). And I think you can tell. KK usually doesn't cover songs like this, but he sounds great! The mixing is top notch. And I've been looping this all month. <strike>BUT</strike> I really like the way the characters look for the opening and ending sections. It just looks like chicken scratch. <_>

Well...it happened. We wouldn't be able to avoid it forever. Here it is, in Febuary 2012.....

A Call of Duty Character

Khaled Al-Asad

"Collusion breeds slavery! And we shall not be enslaved!"

Games:
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (Infinity Ward, 2008)

History-
We are first introduced by Al-Asad shooting us in the face....wait, maybe I should clarify. Al-Asad was the leader of a rebel group called OpFor in Unspecifiedistan which was led by Yafir Al-Fulani. Since Al-Fulani was supporting Western Countries for his own gain, Al-Asad has his men caputre him and blows his head off with a Desert Eagle given to him by Professional Main Antagonist Imran Zakhaev. He takes control of Unspecifiedistan, which peeves off the United States because they had the Middle East just how they wanted it (until Al-Asad comes in and says "That's not a corner piece", the United States rages.)

The U.S Military comes in with Paul Jackson, who proceeds to do everything. However, it appears that Al-Asad left the capital city and left a nuclear warhead behind, as a gift to everyone within a 50 mile radius. Other main antagonist, Vladimir Makarov, detonates it because he's playing a Gambit that basically spans all three games. Everyone there dies, including Paul Jackson, whose plot armor only allowed him to live 1 minute longer than everyone else.

In reality, Al-Asad is hiding in Azerbaijin sucking his thumb and letting everyone else do stuff, because in reality he's actually a very small fish. He is protected by the actual villains of the story, the Russian Ultranationalists (More Ultra than normal Nationalists). Main Character "Soap" along with Captain Price and Gaz infiltrate the village based off of info given by stool pigeon Nikolai. Al-Asad is quickly captured by Price because he doesn't have the power to slow down time and shoot people in the head like he did before. He is interrogated and it is revealed to Price that this was all planned by Zakhaev. So, Price planned a bullet hole into Al-Asad's head. It goes remarkably well.

Opinion- Al-Asad is a rebel leader. Someone who uses outside help to get what he wants, but in the long run, is manipulated into being under these powers. Of course, this comes at the expense of making him little more than a plot device to advance the story. There isn't much to him, but that is pretty much the same for most political leaders, and for the Call of Duty series, this sort of thing really pushes it along, but other than that, I can't say it makes him a great character.

Rating:

Let's see how Al-Asad matches up...

Originality- ***
Personality- **
Character Arc- ***
Consistency- ****
Real- *****

Final Rating: 3.4

If anything, Al-Asad isn't a character made purely to be beat up on. However, he is fairly unimportant, and compared to many characters, he is very underwhelming. Of course, other Call of Duty Characters trump him in spades. It is kind of odd to see him in future games on medals and stuff (I didn't think people thought that highly of him...) Still, he makes the impression intended before the game moves on to Russians. So that's alright I suppose.

*#5: Dr. Pullem*

#5: Dr. Pullem
Type: Theatrical
Appeared in: The Dentist
He's not the dentist you want working on your teeth. For starters, he'll always sabatoge your teeth in some way so you'll keep returning. What sets him over the top is that he actually passes himself off as a hammy supervillian. He's also pretty nasty, as he implants devices in all of his patients' teeth that will cause them agonizing pain whenever he feels like it (he's also a pediatric dentist, which makes it eviler). He's a money-hungry sadist, but he's also an overly theatrical ham voiced by Mark Hamill. And that's great.

#4: Chef Puree
Type: Malicious
Appeared in: The Fancy Restaurant
Chef Puree is easily the most vile person to ever appear on this show. Any sous-chef who dares to mess up a single time is basically made into a slave working in worse-than-death conditions. If you refuse to be a slave, then you're killed and served to the unwitting public as a meal. In short; dude be an ass.
Spoiler Below

He did meet his end at the hands of a rebellion, though.

#3: Barry Ditmer
Type: Magnificent
Appeared in: Technology
Ah, good old Barry Ditmer. He's the germophobic owner of an electronics company that plans to use mind control to force everyone to buy his products. Not horribly evil, but still pretty dicky. His genius IQ sets him on this list, though. He built many robotic soldiers (Ilsas) that are extremely competent fighters, turned Elise into an equally competent fighter via mind control, and pretty much came the closest to killing Dan and Co. as anyone before.
Spoiler Below

He died in a fiery explosion.

#2: Hiram
Type: Malicious
Appeared in: Technology
Ditmer's former partner, Hiram quit the organization and became a creepy bum living on the side of the highway. He's probably the best antagonist due to how legitimately scary he is. Within 10 seconds of appearing, he's attempting to ax Dan and Chris. After learning that they, too, have a grudge against Barry Ditmer, he only sides with them so they can help overthrow him. But once Hiram learns that Dan doesn't hate Ditmer as much as he does, he, while still using a pleasant demeanor, makes it clear that he is going to brutally rape and torture Dan and Chris before killing them and eating them. The creepiest part of all this is that he's basically stated to be an example of Dan from a bad future.
Spoiler Below

He dies in a fiery explosion.

#1: Dan
Type: Magnificent
Appeared in: All episodes
Dan is certainly not a nice guy, either. He'll just as soon go after a saint as he would a demon. But when he quits being angry for a second, he comes up with the craftiest methods of revenge. I can't even put it into words; for the best example, watch the episode "Dan".

_Plot_

Plot
So, Captain Rhedd has enlisted three of his friends to board his spaceship, the titular Three Kelvin, to help defeat the nefarious Paxton and save the galaxy from his greedy ways. Because it interferes with their greedy ways.

Characters
Captain Ron Rhedd
Based on Mushman. He is the captain of Three Kelvin. He almost always has a polite demeanor, and seems to never be angered. This has the downside that he often lets his guard down, hence why he hired his friends to protect them.

Lou Etcher
Based on Luigiman. He is the pilot of Three Kelvin. In spite of his luxurious mustache, he's actually the youngest of the crew, meaning his self-confidence has yet to be shattered. Also, he's gay, but that's not important.

John "Dizzy" Dizman
Based on DarkZero. He is the technician of Three Kelvin, and is a lemming-human hybrid. Despite being even less prone to hatred than Rhedd, he's quite indifferent to the concerns of anyone but Lou. He's actually quite shy, so he tends to avoid talking to anyone but his co-workers.

Jay Hyenard
Based on Random User. He is the engineer of Three Kelvin, and is a hyena-human hybrid (same human, too). He's neutral like the rest of the crew, but leans closer to nice than the other members. Being a foot and a half taller than the two humans on the ship, he's often the bruiser in battle.

Elton Paxton
Founder of Paxton Enterprises, which is really just a front for him building weapons to sell to criminals for money to build his own planet. He's not all that evil, really; he's actually pretty nice. However, everyone sees him as a monster. He's lived a very hard life, so it's a wonder he's as nice as he is.

George Lacey
Second-in-command to Paxton, as well as his brother. He's basically the inverse of Paxton in every way: Whereas Paxton is a nice guy with a bad reputation, Lacey is a bad guy with a nice reputation. Even his appearance starkly contrasts his brother's.

There are more characters, but those would be spoilers.

More Utattemita for your everyday life.

December was actually a pretty good month.

Ren - Senaka Awase no Boku to Kimi (Miku Hatsune)

<if condition="$show['member']">Click to view video.</if>

I really like this song! I think that's because I'm a big fan of Papiyon, the composer. Anyway, I'm not the biggest fan of Ren's voice here, so I'm looking forward to more covers of this...

Pokota - Marble Bright (Miku Hatsune)

<if condition="$show['member']">Click to view video.</if>

Pokota is using his Gackt voice as usual 9_6. His avatar in the video looks so bored. Also, fireworks.

Kogeinu - Maboroshi (Original by Garnet Crow)

<if condition="$show['member']">Click to view video.</if>

Kogeinu sounds so calm and peaceful here. This is a huge contrast to the other song of his that I have on here! The video is really calm too. It's just a bunch of smoke and later a view of the moon. Also Engrish ahoy.

Puruto - Albino (Miku Hatsune)

<if condition="$show['member']">Click to view video.</if>

Puruto sounds like he's singing an anime opening here. Apparently it's about Miku being stuck in Windows Media Player's Visualizations.

SinSyakaiJin - Feel My Soul (Original by YUI and Hideyuki "Daichi" Suzuki)

<if condition="$show['member']">Click to view video.</if>

The first time I heard this song I was in exactly the right mood for it. It's so uplifting! SinSyakaiJin has clover-eyes. And more Engrish.

Keisen - Trick Art! (Rin Kagamine)

<if condition="$show['member']">Click to view video.</if>

Jazz~ I really like Keisen's clear voice. She always sounds so happy. The bass sound in this song is so cool :3

Kogeinu - Riajuu Bakuhatsu-Shiro! (Miku Hatsune)

<if condition="$show['member']">Click to view video.</if>

I have no clue what this is about, but the MMD video and Kogeinu's screaming are hilarious. I can only assume that Kogeinu snaps and goes on a killing rampage, blowing up the entire city in a fit of jealous rage when he sees a happy couple on the subway. Watch out for the T-Rex.

Kanzentaicell - Tetrodoki Sizer 2-Gou (GUMI)
Somehow I like this despite it being autotuned. I think I'm just naturally biased to like Kanzentaicell. He has such a handsome voice. :3 Actually, this vid goes with the previous one a little bit due to the grenades. <_> The repetitive noise that sounds like a dog barking is a little annoying, though.

This video is so cute!! It really inspires me to draw lots of cute girls in adorable outfits like this. The girls are cast a little weird in my opinion. For example, I'd expect Nobunaga to be Rin and Wataame to be MEIKO or Luka. IDK, the song sounds amazing no matter which character they're playing.

Nobunaga - Hangyaku Respect (GUMI)
I really like this sort of voice from Nobunaga. I don't think a white dress shirt is the best outfit to have a paintball match in though.

I really suck at Rubik's cubes. They're super-easy though if you memorize the math behind them. I've always wondered what the consequences of not solving a Rubik's cube are. Apparently RUBIK'S HANDS sprout from them. So they can solve themselves. Or generally creep you out.
I really love the fantastical sound of this song. :3 It reminds me of some of Yoko Kanno's stuff. The vocaloid original is IA -ARIA ON THE PLANETES-, who hasn't been released yet and is still in beta. Also, Lia did the voice bank for IA. <_> You can see what IA looks like a bit in the video.
Piko again! I'm really enjoying his "deep" voice. This time without an annoying blown-out scream. The line drawing in the video is pretty nice :3 Warning: This video contains MikuMikuDance Shota!Piko.
This song is about someone who is both depressed and addicted to twitter and other social networking sites. They want to quit and "disappear", because they know that social networking "weakens relationships and deepens jealousies" but they can't because of the addiction and/or boredom.

I've loved this song for soooo long and I've been waiting for a good cover of it! Nayugorou's voice is soft and sharp and Denirow's is more messy and rough. I really like the blending, though. I think it's a good combination. <strike>TURNIP, TURNIP!</strike>

Do you like spinning chickens, drawing on girls falling from the sky, clothing with wings, and strange three-legged armless abominations? Look no further than this video. Soraru's version isn't very heavy, but I like his rough voice in this song. Vin's version is more cracky and hilarious. I love when he starts singing all the songs during the guitar solo especially "Luka Luka Night Fever!"

Anima - Kurikaeshi Hitotsubu -M&R mix- (Miku Hatsune and Rin Kagamine)
This is amazing. I love Anima. I think the blending is amazing. I really have nothing else to say. Except the title means "One of Repetition". So it makes sense that there's an infinity symbol in the video.

Personal bias wins again. No, really. This song is awesome and everything, but I feel like every time Faneru has a cover he's near the top <_>. Anyway, this is a sister song to Antichlorobenzene. The tune is the same, but the lyrics are different. And harder to sing. I know from experience. I think these three guys' voices go great together <_> The collab is called Asamakkuneru.

I did something I've never done before for this video. I uploaded this to youtube. Yes. Anyway, Yorukichi has such an amazing voice! His blending is perfect. This song is super epic when he sings it <3 Creepy sun face out.

It's a new year, and with it, we have been doing this for a whole year. And with a new year, brings fine tuning and some other interesting things. Of course, let's get started with a character that anyone who played the game she's based in should know very well. She is...

Isara Gunther

"I am proud of my blood."

Games: Valkyria Chronicles (Sega, 2008)

History-
Isara is the daughter of Theimer Gunther who was a great mechanic that built a great tank called the Edelweiss during the first Europan War. Despite this meaning that he is probably the best person in the world, he is a "Darcsen" which means he has dark hair and that nobody likes them. Why? Because people will always need a particular feature to mock about others to make themselves feel superior. Wish I had a joke here.

Anyway, she lives in the town of Bruhl, on the border between Gallia and the Imperials (or "Guys that will obviously invade this city at some point in the future."). Since her father died from plot convenience, she was adopted by Gunther and effectively became Main Character, Welkin Gunther's Sister in all but bloodline. Welkin comes to the town to help evacuate the town and Isara has to bail him out after the Town Watch (headed by Heroine Alicia), arrested Welkin for drawing fish, which is a very Spy thing to do. Suddenly, an Imperial Force attacks the town because they want Gallia's Ragnite, which is the valuable resource of the time (we grew out of it.) Isara is attacked too, but due to some racist comments (Imperials are super racist), Isara blows them away with a rifle killing the Imperials one day from retirement. Isara and Welkin manage to get the old Edelwiess running and plow through the Imperials, however they just run away because you can't have a game if you win that easily.

Welkin is brought into the Gallian Millitary and made leader of Squad 7, with Isara being the Tank Driver and Alicia being second-in-command. Unfortunately, their lack of experience and Isara being a Darcsen causing some friction, particularly among other Important characters Largo and Rosie. Isara manages to hold her own and Welkin manages to earn some respect from the soldiers of Squad 7. Eventually, they try to take back the Industrial City of Fouzen. Here they run into another Darcsen called Zaka. He is a pretty good mechanic himself, due to working in the factory from a young age. They manage to secure the city, but the Imperials being the Darcsens they were using to mine the ragnite from the caves and burn them to death. Classy.

The next task of Squad 7's is to take back Marberry Shore near Fouzen. The place is not an ideal place for a tank, since anywhere that a tank can fit will be pummeled by turrets into dust. They plan to attack on The Feast of All Spirits which is an important Gallian Holiday. Isara gives Largo and Rosie Darcsen Dolls, wanting to be friends with them. Rosie is still a little conflicted, but racism takes time, so we'll forgive her for the moment. Isara manages to create Smoke Pellets that will obscure the turrets vision and allow the tank to pass through and destroy them easily. The Mission is a success and Rosie even seems to want to be friends with Isara. Everything seems to be going her way.

Cue Sniper killing Isara. Oops.

Strangely enough, taking a base and NOT checking for any enemies nearby afterwards is a BAD idea. Who'd have thought? So, Isara dies, and several important characters appear at her funeral. Rosie does what she promised, and sings for Isara. It is a somber song called "A Love Passed On". End Scene.

Opinion-
Ok, let's see. Sibling of Main Character? Check. Very Soft Spoken, but can hold her own? Check. A Character that has the same skills as said character that is much older? Check. This character should have Plot Armor so hard it probably would have caused the bullet to go around her and hit Rosie if it were anyone else. She seems to be an otherwise alright character rounding out the more loud characters, but her death shocked everyone, even genre saavy people who thought they saw a bullseye target on the back of Zaki's head. It goes to show how good the team who made Skies of Arcadia is at making a somewhat well-made plot.

Rating:

For those of you who forgot our ratings, here they are again.

Originality- How original is this character compared to most characters like him/her?
Personality- How does he/she act? Is the character ususally happy, sad, angry, and how is this portrayed in the game?
Character Arc- Does this character change over time, and if the character does, is the end result satisfying?
Consistency- Does the character fit the franchise and its characters?
Real- Does this character act appropriately? Do they show emotions, or react according to their race?

Originality- **
Personality- ***
Character Arc- ***
Consistency- ****
Real- *****

Final Rating: 3.4

This character is kind of similar to how people speak of some dead celebrities. It's kind of like the death is more important that the person. I do like this character, but in all intents in purposes she is generic and forgettable compared to other characters like her. Her death is incredibly shocking and does its job well, but it has the consequence of cutting her characterization short, but hey it could be worse. It could be a complete douche that was elevated to godhood after her death. Supply your own example, because I can't be bothered.

Trivia: Isara is actually the template for the Darcsen race. The idea of the race spun off of the shawl she wears when the whole thing was on the drawing board. Originally the race was also going to be a race of beastmen, but I suppose they thought it was silly.

Froyo, who, as his name implies, is frozen yogurt disguised as a hobbit.
HairyThorn, who is like Aragorn, but actually a hairy thorn.

Okay, now imagine something with me, if you will. A video game, where you take all the worst parts of every video game... and put them together.

Mission one is an escort quest. Mission two you have to protect the villagers and when one dies its game over, and you have to start from the beginning. Mission three is a sewer level.

The final level is an escort quest, where you escort the final boss (unknowingly) through a sewer level to his throne room while guarding villagers, and if one of them dies you have to start over from the beginning.

At the start of the fight, the final boss says "Fooooooooled you!" because he reveals he was the final boss all along. Every member of your party is a monk from final fantasy one and also your rival. The boss takes away all your buffs, buffs himself AND debuffs you, and you start the fight with one HP. His attacks are all AoE and you have a quarter second chance to dodge them by jumping. That's it. It is also an eight stage fight, and your healer is dead.

When you finally kill him, he reveals that he was your long lost twin brother all along... your long lost twin brother who looks nothing like you and only wants to kill you because you came out first. Then he takes out a crossbow and shoots you in the head. It goes to a game over screen, because in this game... even when you win... you lose.
