Nuzlocke: THE NUZZINING
Posted 05-20-2010 at 11:29 PM by Galefore
I have decided to move updates about my Nuzlocke adventure into this journal, just so it seems like it has some discernible use.
Current Pokermons:
Sheff the Grovyle (Level 33). Sheff is a mainstay of my party, and has survived countless battles as very nearly the last man standing. There have been numerous times, even in battles where he has a type disadvantage, that he was sent out last and effectively prevented me from losing all of my pokemon (who were at this point all significantly close to death). Definitely gonna suck if he ever gets hit by a stray critical or gets nuked in some battle where I'm blindsided by Self-Destruct or some other bull****.
Cuddy the Loudred (Level 33). Cuddy was caught explicitly because I love Exploud. Not to say I broke the rules, because Whismur was genuinely the first Pokemon I met where I found her, but I damn well would have had I not met one right off the bat. Genuinely ****ing awesome for a normal type, this Loudred will one day learn Hyper Beam and **** **** up.
Gojira the Gyarados (Level 33). Gojira was caught because I needed a new pokemon after the death of Gavin and the next gym leader I was going to fight was Flannery. Caught at level 9, I grinded him up to about level 28 over the course of four hours in the Jagged Path (or whatever it's called) so that he would at least have high enough defense to adequately take advantage of his type. Flannery got adequately destroyed by Gojira, all by himself.
A.C. the Minun (Level 32). A.C. isn't one of my favorites, but I don't have the heart to replace her with a boxed Pokerman and she's come to grow on me over the last week and a half. I still wish I had caught an Electrike on the route below Mauville, but that's alright, because A.C. is a cool little sunuvabitch and I'm glad to have her.
Kofi the Koffing (Level 32). Another unintentional catch. Kofi was caught in the fiery path, instead of the more useful fire types that appear there. Still the weakest Pokemon on my team, she has three levels to go before she evolves into Wheezing and starts being bitchin'.
Stardust the Linoone (Level 32). Stardust is a man and a half. I caught him at level 2, and he's never been in a near-death situation yet. Always strong and stalwart, and with the inclusion of some supplements to his attack he's also one of the better attackers I've got. I'm certain he'll one day need to be replaced when I'm facing down Stat Giants in the Elite Four, but until those days come, he's number one on the “caught” list and a great little creature to come to appreciate.
Others, saved in the Box for reserve: Squall the Kecleon, Greenwood the Sandshrew, Zuko the Zubat, R. Savage the Machop, Amy the Cacnea, Gosslin the Swablu, Tycho the Electrike, Thirteen the Tropius
Other notables: Garnet the Swellow (Level 27). Raised from level 2 or 3, Garnet was a mainstay on the team. Unfortunately, she eventually had to go because her defense was paper-thin and she had no significant type advantages. She will eventually return to the team when Fly is needed, but in the meantime she's in the reserve box for use in an emergency.
Dead legends: Gavin the Aron (levels 10-22). My faithful but slow-to-level-up Aron survived many an ordeal with me. Never failing to show his true colors, he survived up until Wattson kicked his steel ass into eternity. Poor little guy did not stand a chance.
Feist the Poochyena (levels 2-8). Fell to poison. First real loss, though at the time I had an antidote and apparently missed it while frantically searching my bag. Unlike Gavin (who is resting peacefully in a box), I decided to release Feist and immediately regretted it. NEVAR FORGET.
Notably, I haven't lost any Pokemon besides Feist and Gavin yet. This is mostly because I'm extra careful. Grinding and items have saved my ass, as well as good ol' fashioned strateejery. I don't want that to change, but likely the top-tier Gym Leader (the dragon dude with the transsexual looks) and the Elite Four will knock the **** out of some of my 'Mons. We'll see.
