Popeye is a overgod who feel asleep and dreamed he was a man. Because he is dreaming, and believes himself a man, he wears a smilar form and he has forgotten much of his strength.

He was told spinach would make him strong. And so, it makes him such. As he believes he can do anything under it's influence, he can. His imaginary scope is somewhat limited because of his choice of mortal form, but the way he bends reality with physical strength is proof of his godhood.

Of course, because he believes the spinach does this, when another takes spinach in his presence, he grants onto them a measure of his power in his expectation that they have such power.

Popeye's slumber his shown by his one eye, almost always asleep. Slowly, it will open more and more. One day he will see the world in depth again, and with that the depths of the universe, and he shall awaken once more.

This will not be a day of mourning nor redemption. His avatar has shown us his nature already: he is what he is, and that's all that he is.
