It was pretty cool but I noticed a part was missing. I recall hearing (I don't remember where) that the characters of the original Mega Man series were killed by Zero. However, this very detailed Wiki entry skips what happend to the original characters. Here's the link if you wanna check it out: Mega Man Timeline - WikiKnowledge I was wondering if anyone DOES know what happend to the old school characters like my fave, Bass. Any comments? |

I DON'T KNOW HOW TO MAKE A SPOILER BOX SO, UH, WATCH OUT: Besides, I believe MMBN's Mega Man is actually a computer program based on Lan's dead brother, which is revealed in the end of the first MMBN. |

It didn't say if he was, though. |

Well, if you mean which Mega Man, I believe it was original old Mega Man. If you mean in which game did he get kidnapped, I think it was a GB game. |

So it was like an alternate universe/time line Mega Man which was kidnapped. Therefore, the regular Mega Man existed till at least the events of, I believe, MM9. So something else happend to him... |

As far as just jumping straight into the Mega Man X series goes, I would have to say there is a story behind it. Most of the story in the entire Mega Man series is strung together through very careful examination of the games but it all makes sense. The only missing link in the series, aside from MMBN, is the gap between MM and MMX. I am sure the gap will be filled eventually. I hope! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I just looked up some more info on the gap between MM and MMX and found something the timeline I found doesn't cover: "In Bass's lone ending, Wily demands to know why Bass destroyed his robots. Bass tells him that only he can defeat Mega Man, and will not accept any other robot doing so, and taunts Wily by saying he must've created Bass "by accident". Wily reveals that his statement is not far from the truth, and that he created Bass after he had accidentally discovered a brand new power source (dubbed "Bassnium"). Wily then tells Bass that his new unfinished robot will outpower Bass, and the game shows a silhoutte of Zero, protagonist of the Mega Man X series. Bass insults the robot and says it will never be as strong as him." Apparently, Zero was at least shown in the original MM, which shows that the series does have intentions of connecting the series. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It looks like that timeline was wrong about Mega Man Legends' timeline: "In the game Mega Man Legends 2 (the exact date of this, or even the century for that matter, are not positively known; however, according to an interview with Keiji inafune, it would seem the Mega Man Legends titles take place in roughly 56XX)" Oh well. I don't know if it's true or not but if it is this puts a rather intresting spin on the whole MMX and MMZ games storyline. The information is below like I said this is unconfirmed I just found it intresting and desided to share it. Mega Man X was ment to look like Zero, the big excutives at Capcom flipped a lid saying that no one would reconise or accept a new version of Megaman if he didn't look similar to his orignal 8 bit self. This led to Megaman X looking like he did and Zero becoming a diffrent person (err robot) entirely. On another note I predict that this topic will end up like all the Zelda timeline topics do, lots of mass speculation pointless arguments and no real progress made. - You stupid dog! |

I really don't think that MMX is a modified version of Megaman. I was just throwing out an idea. |

Thank God they didn't make Zero the new Mega Man. Well, maybe if it were a one character story, then maybe I'd say he was simply shutdown. But Bass would never allow himself to be shut down, especially when he knows Wily is trying to make stronger robots than himself. Also, he wants to kill Mega Man so...yeah. Other characters like Proto Man are too independant to allow themselves to be shut down. |
