Update: Capcom sent out a release the following day, redacting the mention of online play and five new characters. Did someone at Capcom jump the gun?
guess we'll have to see what happens. Either way, excited.

^Probably won't happen at this point. It's a PS2 game, right?

Here's a trailer, I guess. Notable because it shows two new characters: one Capcom and one Tatsunoko.

...and yeah, you better believe that's who you think it is.

Here's some gameplay of our new characters.

Spoiler Below
According to an accidental leak...thing on the site's files or something, the new characters will be:

Frank West, Zero
Tekkaman Blade, Yatterman02, Joe the Condor
Also, I think that genie Tatsunoko character is cut out, making an even balance...sort of.

This is a game I must buy. Just seeing the effort Capcom is putting bringing it over here is enough for me to want it, as strange as that may sound.

There's also this video.

or, click this

That leaves about 1 Tatsunoko character, since I think one is being cut out from the original release. And that would probably be Yatterman-02, according to the things found on the site before.

When is this coming out, though? oh, 2010.

This is going to be freaking amazing. It seems like there's someone in this game for everyone. Viewtiful Joe? ALEEEEEEX?! Zero?! Megaman Volnutt?! FRANK WEEEST?!?! And with three Gatchaman characters, this has to be amazing. If only we had Phoenix Wright and Speed Racer...

Is this the only Tatsunoko vs. Capcom thread we have? Oh well.

Tatsunoko vs. Capcom Review for the Wii from 1UP.com

Quote:
Many wondered why Capcom chose Nintendo's Wii as the exclusive platform to launch Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars, the latest fighter in the over-the-top Versus series. Surely, a multiplatform release would reach a broader audience, critics argued. Capcom saw the situation differently. According to TVC producer Ryota Niitsumae, the dearth of Wii fighters was an influencing factor, and the console's casual quality matches the Versus' series trademark of accessibility. Opposing console supporters may scoff at Capcom's decision, but let them argue all they want on the messageboards. Tatsunoko vs. Capcom clearly stands above its competition as one of Wii's finest fighting game.

The Versus series is unlike, say, Capcom's other flagship fighter, Street Fighter. Its signature tenet, the team aspect, stresses the importance of finding teammates who complement each other's strengths while filling out each other's weaknesses. Whereas Street Fighter emphasizes a methodical approach to engaging your opponent, balancing conservatism with aggression, the Versus series, especially TVC, favors the extreme: either unbridled offense or impenetrable defense.

TVC emboldens you to attack constantly, supported by a robust movement system including air and ground dashes and double jumps, and a flexible combat engine. From confusing mix-ups to tricky reset combos to annoying block strings, skilled players can use these fundamentals as powerful strategies to maintain constant pressure on their opponent, forcing them to make careless mistakes. Baroque, a new mechanic in the Versus series, is a tool for creativity, opening combos unimaginable by normal means. By trading in the recoverable parts of your health, you instantly cancel an attack to continue a combo. In other words, it's a risk/reward mechanic that calls for immediate assessment of an opportunity. Intelligently applying and executing Baroque takes time to master, which may scare casual players from applying it in their games. But astute players will relish in the opportunity to maximize their damage.

Of course, there will be concerns over Baroque's potential for exploitation. Baroque can set up some nasty situations, like infinite combos -- a series of uninterrupted attacks that can kill the opponent unless the attacker messes up on their execution. For this reason, Capcom developed Mega Crash to offset the chance of an infinite combo, which drains your Hyper Combo bars and health in exchange to break free from a combo. Mega Crash's strict requirements won't let you use it as a crutch, but at the very least, you have the option to escape.

The numerous offensive and defensive options may seem a little overwhelming, especially for neophytes getting into the fighting genre, but TVC makes it simple for newcomers to feel empowered. You don't need Baroque to string impressive multi-hitting combos. The game's chain combo system allows you to link attacks together in sequential order, from weakest to strongest, for players who haven't sharpened their dexterity yet.

The counterargument, though, is that leniency devolves the gameplay and promotes an atmosphere of "scrubs," a pejorative used to describe a weak player with bad habits such as regularly mashing their attacks. Pundits won't be happy unless the system is stricter, guided by the belief that skill is measured by difficulty. If you share this conviction, then TVC's accessibility may disappoint you.

Character design is thoughtful and imaginative, populated by a notable cast from both Capcom and Tatsunoko's properties, a Japanese animation studio known for their sci-fi and action anime, including Neon Genesis Evangelion and Macross. Tatsunoko characters, at first, look all the same: skin-tight suits, knee-high boots, and a helmet with a long, colored visor. Their play styles, however, are wildly different from each other. Characters like Karas and Yatterman 1 can overpower their opponents by their sheer speed and long range moves, while other characters like Ippatsuman and Tekkaman rely on their strength. The Capcom roster shares the same design philosophy, too. Some (Alex and Soki) rely on a single opportunity to deal a large chunk of damage; others (Zero and Roll) posses a fearsome pressure game using momentum to their advantage.

Unlocking all the characters can either be fun or tortuous, depending on who you ask. To unlock the new characters, you must complete the game multiple times, and follow several basic requirements. It's a source of contention dividing the community. On the one hand, much of the fighting game community expects all the characters to be unlocked from the start. For them, spending time to unlock the characters is a waste of time, especially when they're focused on playing another opponent, not the computer. On the other hand, a compulsory unlocking scheme encourages exploration and experimentation to try characters you wouldn't normally use. To please both sides, Capcom should have provided an easy alternative, like a code that unlocks all the characters.

Online matchmaking depends greatly on your connection and connection-type. Online matches connected wirelessly are regularly unplayable; signal strength is too inconsistent, and drops frequently in a match, or when searching for opponents in Free or Ranked Battle. Switching from wireless to a wired connection improves the experience, as matches are serviceable, though still not perfect -- I still noticed input delay in my games against a local opponent with a wired connection. Investing in a wired connection, such as Nyko's Net Connect, is a must in order to enjoy online matchmaking.

TVC, while a fun game, isn't the best in the Versus series. It's definitely better than Marvel Superheroes vs. Street Fighter, but it trails behind Marvel vs. Capcom 2. Still, TVC has something to offer to both casual and hardcore fans. Its stripped-down mechanics (four buttons rather than the usual six, and a lenient combo system) can help newcomers overcome their fear that fighters are too complex to learn, and the pacing and ridiculous combos will appeal to veterans looking for a challenge.
They gave it a B+.

Best game in the Versus series. I mean it, I am amazed. I really don't have such a problem with half of the roster unknown, because it makes things more fun, really. I'm a big Gatchaman fan, so it's fun seeing them in the game. The three-button attack system works fine, Ryu just takes a little getting used to, but he works well.

It's great to see Alex again, he's really fun to play as. Megaman Volnutt's okay, takes mastering.

One of the really great things about this game is how open it is to anyone. There's plenty of things in it to master and work hard to get good at, but it works just as well playing it casually. Much more that Marvel Vs Capcom 2.

Actually, I prefer this to Marvel vs Capcom 2. Where as Marvel vs Capcom 2, everything was about tiers and all that crap. I got so sick of only seeing teams consisting of Cable, Gambit, Magneto, and Sentinel.

Also, the graphics are great. There all like, cel-shaded and stuff. Viewtiful Joe almost looks just like he popped out of his own game.
Spoiler Below
It was fun seeing how he reacted to getting to fight alongside anime superheroes in his ending.

Frank West is pretty interesting in this, but I need to use him some more.

To sum it up, buy this game.

Game is fun. I'm pretty terrible at it right now, though. I guess I'm kind of a newcomer when it comes to normal fighting games.

Played it, is awesome. I'm ok, I suppose. I was playing my stepfather, and we won and lost the same amount or so. I use Viewtiful Joe, and I was trying out other people. I kinda like Morrigan, but I don't like her combos.

So I use Roll instead. And she ****ing owns.
