| Wow, that was unexpected. I thought that he got a plum job, what with Megaman Legends 3D. But, I guess he's fed up with all the corporate bull**** the games industry is mired in. Based on what I've read from Tim Rogers (cynical, long-winded auteur and compelling jerkface) the Japanese game industry atmosphere is stifling. But then again, the game industry as a whole treats its employees very badly. I was interested in getting a job in the video games industry, but every story I've heard was not a good one. Permanent crunch time, low pay, risk-averse investors which stifle creativity. Shigeru Miyamoto's still designing games based on his current hobbies, Suda51's pulling some punk stuff out, Keita Takahashi was doing some cool stuff before he decided not to put up with the industry crap and instead make playgrounds. I wonder why Keiji left. Was he just tired of thinking about Mega Man for over two decades? Maybe he'll start up an indie game startup? I think that's where I see all the great innovations coming from. Or maybe he'll just retire to the mountains and meditate under a waterfall, waiting for enlightenment. |
