Here's another tip: When you draw your sprite on paper do NOT scan it in to trace over it. Here's why: 1) Most drawings are usually in pencil. Putting your scanner into black and white mode won't make your drawing show up, so you're pretty much stuck with grey scale or color. When you're done tracing, you will notice that the foggy paper background will take too long to get rid of by hand. Also, the sprite will be MUCH harder to animate this way. 2) When it's been drawn in pen so that you can avoid grey scaling it, you will notice that shrinking the image down to the preferable size makes the outline unintelligible, therefore destroying the purpose. |

It's just Mario's head... pasted on Darth's body. Clashing styles can be acceptable in a comic, especially a crazy/humor one, but two clashing styles in a single sprite? Wugh. |

I smiled when the ghosts ran off with the Yoshi dude. You've got potential - keep practicing. Edit: O___O I opened Darth Mario in a new tab and didn't look at it until now... Dude. XDXDXD It's so freakin' awesome. It made me laugh. I mean, you got a "bad ass" body... and then a fat plumber's head. I AMA YOUR FATHERA. Er. Anyways, like I said before the edit. ;P [ November 17, 2005, 08:56 AM: Message edited by: ^Alex - Jumpkick To Face. ] |

Is it like The Terminator, Psycho, or Baron von Blubba? Get out that sound, ladies and gents, because Glyph Phoenix is back in town and school is in session! Do a gross lack of capitalization and punctuation, sucky comic recolors, and random attacks and explosions make your intro cool? No, it makes it awful! Congratulations! Sprites and backgrounds of totally different perspectives = fun, fun, fun! No, wait, that's awful again, my bad. Your 'intruders' panel would have looked a lot less stupid if they hadn't just instantly popped out of nowhere. As punishment you must write "'Oh poop' is not a punchline" on the blackboard 50 times. Now, let's see what you did get right... The masks were okay. They look kinda stupid on M&L Yoshi, though. Again, don't mix perspectives like that. The green eyepatch is acceptable also. Nothing special, but at least you bothered to shade it. But you followed up with a lame fake phone number, when there are so many funny fake phone numbers out there! To reiterate, lame. The way the Boos couldn't tell the mask from the real boo, and "landscaping" were almost funny. They weren't funny, mind you, but they were almost funny. Now, I just got a great idear this mounth myself. How about you and any other poorly edoted sprite friends of yours either fix this mess of a comic or mosey on out of here, huh? |

In the end it does come down to either shaping up or shipping out. If your comic can't grasp an audience right away or if doesn't get any better than it's as good as doomed. You can either accept this as good advice and improve or just stop making it. No one's forcing your hand except your own. |
