I've always wanted to make games but I never seem to have the attention span, and im more of a gamer. And I meant 'what are you going to do when you are finished' by asking if you were going to put the game on flashplayer or something after your are done making it? How many heros and villians from other games are you planning to include? (anything from the Resident Evil series?).... and I've fixed my problem with warcraft3 and am now going to kill armies. |

There are a LOT of characters in it. But not even a third are available by just playing straight through. Most are hidden characters. To make it easier, each chapter of the story is replayable. When you finish, say, the first chapter of Fox's story: you may continue on to the next one or replay the previous one. You start out with all your items (except the important items that start events and such), your funds, and your stats that you currently have. What you do differently in this replay of the chapter may also effect the following chapters. Also, keep in mind that bosses become harder with each replay and some even learn new techniques. If you replay this chapter you can (if you killed him on accident previously) spare Bill's life. In the third chapter, Bill finds you and joins up with you there. The Lavos TYRANT would've probably given a subtle clue that Resident Evil has a part in the story (but not until very late in the game). Leon S. Kennedy is a playable character. (Although the idea of him shooting Goombas is odd, ...). Anyway: Tonberry2K himself said this was good. The grandfather of gaming himself. This was a fan favorite. Yes, I know this looks funny. But I did it to show the different angles in which one can move as well as to show that there aren't any oddities in terms of coloring inconsistency, yadda, yadda, as the character makes the transtition from one direction to another. And Peppy's as pear-headed as ever. A shot of the character tech list from within the menu. |

Nightmare is most definitely in it. And, um, by the way, do you see anything wrong with this idle animation of Mewtwo? I tried having him float up and down, but it looked weirder than it is now... ![]() |

I can understand if you want all the gifs to have similar frame numbers, but you're going to need more if you want Mewtwo to look right. I think that your profile characters should have bigger eyes like your concept art pictures. Otherwise they look a little off. Also, I don't believe Tonberries actually say "doink". If you're going to include it as a visible sound effect, sure, but I don't think they actually say it. Now, Smithy, your sprites are again quite amazing. But exactly how much do you know about programming? You can't just "put something on" Flash or an emulator, you know. Besides the fact that they are both systems that can be used to run games, they have very little in common and are in no way interchangeable. Heck, neither one will likely work for your game here. Flash takes up many resources and is suitable for minigames like, say, Frogger, but not major RPGs like this. Emulators are generally very hard to work with and limit you to whatever emulated system you are using. |

(so far unbeatable) Yes Smithy Abyss and Nighterror are in soulcalibur 3. Abyss being the replacement boss of Inferno, and Nighterror being faced instead if the right paths are taken (no losing a battle or using a continue, and some enemies must or must not be defeated with a ring out), nighterror uses soul edge(complete)- which is when soul edge absorbs soul calibur(which was made from purified soul edge fragments), is impossible to ring out due to wings. http://www.soularchive.jp/ just go to characters then abyss (left from Zazalamel) http://img419.imageshack.us/my.php?image=nss10241vv.jpg was unable to find anything better of nighterror, you mayhave to search yourself or rent/buy the gane, i could tell you the path with nightmare.... |

| Junior Member Join Date: Nov 2005 Location: Ymir Forest Posts: 302 Thanks: 1 Thanked 0 Times in 0 Posts | Hm, yeah, I understand about the chopiness in his animation (regardless of how hard it was to get those robes to look right). Mewtwo himself IS static. I'll try speeding up his animation a bit to see if it looks any better, but I'm open for suggestions to fix Mewtwo himself. What do I know about programming? I know about booleans, If, Then, Else statements, getting pictures to show up and animate and how to get music to play, stop, repeat and have a portion of it memorized, but I fail when it comes to collision detection, assigning actions to keys, and the trigonometry portion that comes with it (I'm pretty good at math; I just have a MUCH harder time with trig than with anything else). There are probably other things that I've missed. You also express a pretty valid point where as both flash and emulators are concerned. I may have to settle with just a generic programming language such as C++ or Dark Basic. RedJ, thank you for your help. Also, about Tonberry... my brother expressed his desire to voice Tonberry (although he doesn't say much at all). If this were to be a visual sound effect I guess I should just go with having him making odd noises and stuff (the FFCC voice clip of Tonberry comes to mind). And the eyes are kind of oddly shaped in the portraits. I may have to talk with Irvine about that one to see what we can do about that. |

| Forum Host | hehehehehehehe Doinketh hehehehehe Anyway, I'm sure Neither Abyss or Nightterror ( Really silly name, Namco) Will be in his game, since Smithy only uses Characters that have been on a Nintendo console hence the name...Ganbare Nintendo... Fan... fare? 009... I don't even think the name of the game was said here... But, seperating self from topic... SOUL CALIBER 3!!!!!!!! BEST GAME EVUR!!!! Why am I not playing it now? ARG! Curse you schedule, I wish I could throw you out the window! Anyway, Mewtwo's Idle Pose looks cool (I'm not a good Sprite person DoD does that...) And I still think you rock Smithy, I will help in any way POSSIBLE! |

I don't know if you are going to use music from video games but if you are http://www.vgmusic.com/ is a good site, although nothing is ripped directly from the games and may vary somewhat, it is one of the largest databases I know of. (I used it in a game making course one summer at the Odysseum(unless you live in Edmonton you probably wouln't know what im talking about... I don't know if any other major cities have them) using G.C.S (Game Creation System) which makes simple First Person Shooters) For Mewtwo do you have anything like a dark Psychic aura (if your game contains anything like a breserk mode (some FF games e.g. in 9 it was known as 'trance', or something like 'rage' in Marvel Nemisis), are you going to include Deoxys? it might make a good boss battle (shifting between speed, def, and attack modes, mabye even splitting (not in the game)- but due to the fact that its supposed to be a mutant space virus). Also if your looking for backrounds on games or histories and stuff on characters http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page may be a good choice, you just have to search (i mean through the search bar). Although reccomended for research by one of my teachers, I found out about the databases it had on games and other stuff (heck it even mentioned NC when I searched 'sprite comic' as the first and one of the best out there), although some stuff may not have a bg description it is mostly accurate (although because you can edit the pages some moron can type an inaccurate things, although the people that run the site claim that this is deleted, dealt with, and fixed quickly). Fightersgeneration seems to be down, or my computer cannot link to it for some reason, or i would have posted a link here (there is already one under the srpites section). Edit Note: mewtwo does look kinda static like Glyph said, also it kinda looks like he's using the bottom capes(or whatever they are) to stand, so it might look better if those were animated to. The tapestry type things would look great too if they simply had more frames between flaps for a smoother animation. They seem to move too far in the course of one frame, and because the animation moves too slow Mewtwo takes too long to blink. I really can't fault it besides that. If that's all you've got in the programming department, things aren't looking good. Heck, I can do some routines in SNES (65c816) assembly; that doesn't mean it wouldn't take years to make a decent SNES game. (Note that a motivated person could complete it in less, but I am not one.) Then again, it'd probably take me months to make these sprites. If you can learn to program as fast as you sprite... |

Yeah, I'm still willing to learn, but will and motivation might not be enough. I am quite DETERMINED, but now I'm rambling again. A guy named V-King from Germany wanted to test something on the Mewtwo animation I made and I told him to go right ahead since I was pretty busy doing something else entirely. I'm wondering what I SHOULD do next, I've just completed Knuckles's overworld sprites and am looking into what other aspects I still need to cover. Nonetheless, I refuse to cave in. I'll eventually get this all right. One way or another. |

Does it look better? Or should I go in for some minor detail fixes? ![]() |

| Member Join Date: Jul 2004 Gender: Posts: 1,774 Thanks: 2 Thanked 1 Time in 1 Post | Actually, it looks much worse now. See, I didn't mean speed it up or add bottom frames. I didn't mean that at all. I meant add intermediate frames. They don't have enough frames in between to look like they're flowing. They'd work for any old placeholder, but compared to your other work they're not up to par. However, the bobbing up and down is very nice. I stupidly forgot to recommend that on your old animation. And nobody minds if you double post as long as you add stuff. Although if it's not to bump the topic with the new content, why not just edit the post instead? |
