| Newbie Join Date: Nov 2006 Gender: Posts: 3 Thanks: 0 Thanked 1 Time in 1 Post | Questions about sprites... **For the actual content, look in the second paragraph. Just so you know, I am not completely new. I made an account ages ago, and I made a few posts. But I wasn't really impressed with the community, And something else was going on at the same time elsewhere in my life and after all that I forgot my password and can't find where I wrote it down... so I just made a new account. === Anyway, for future reference, in the sticky where it talks about giving credit, is it only talking about custom sprites, or all of them? Seeing as all sprites are technically Nintendos' property and ripping them is technically illegal, I always thought it was a bit weird to see "please give credit" on so many sprite pages for something like normal smb3 mario sprites, and I can never see how on earth anyone can tell wether you ripped them yourselves or "stole" the sprites from them. Of course, for custom sprites actual graphic art was done and I will always give credit . and almost all of my sprite collection is "public domain" stuff so I don't expect to run into this too often. Also, are there any rules for sending in fan art to NC? I can't find any on the site. Edit: Err, I put this in the wrong section. I get this and the comics forum confused for some reason... I'd still like help. | Marshmallow Knight ☆ Supermod | It's common courtesy to credit people for their work, even if all they did was rip them. As for original sprites, any physical work is automatically copyright once it is created; you don't need to register your works for them to be protected from copyright. Also, it's not illegal to rip and use sprites. Fair use - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Quote:
