You can also try Freewebs. In my opinion that site is very easy to use.

Well, if all else fails, you can always try www.geocities.com

Note: If you just want to host comics, then you'll only need to organize your files. You won't need to make your own web page.

With any of those services, you cannot embed a picture stored in their space (like I assume you did below.) Instead, rename the picture from .gif (or .jpg/.bmp) to the .txt suffix. Or, you could provide a hyperlink with the "URL" UBB Code option instead of "IMAGE".

When you're using geocities, it's also a good idea to stick http://invis.free.anonymizer.com/ in front of the image's URL. This will allow you to remotely link from anywhere.
