Eh, not really slow-paced - just that you need to know how to deal more damage per attack. The charge system looks like it'll be pretty important.

I played Septerra Core; the battles are just so goddamn slow that I was avoiding as many as possible. There was even a loading bar for every single battle, even though all the sprites and background were the same. It sort of turned me off of those wait-and-charge archetypes. I'm still hopeful, though, that it won't be that bad.

I've never heard of it. But I have heard of Penny Arcade.

Some games journalist (I'm not sure which, not from any of the big-name sites, may have been AVGN) compared Tycho to Tim Schafer, in terms of writing for games. That alone sells me on this concept.
