The Curse of Monkey Island

Badassed game, just started playing through it.

I have to say, that if I run out of options and just can't think of anything left to do, I have no problem going to Gamefaqs. Adventure games of this genre often went unplayed when I was younger for lack of any decent info on the games.

Excellent game, and the second-best in the series. Good choice.

...my own copy won't work on my current PC. This displeases me.

It's a really touchy game. I haven't checked for patches, but it never used to run when my dad got it for me back when it came out. I always felt really disappointed, like I was really worried he would be upset if he knew it couldn't run. I don't think he ever asked about it directly, though, so I didn't have to tell him. Now that I've got it running, I'm really impressed that he found such a sweet game.

THE MONKEYS ARE LISTENING.

You fight like a dairy farmer!

Monkey Island games had all the best lines.

w00t.. Just finished the game. I ended up going to Gamefaqs more than I'd like to, but some of the solutions to things in this game were just totally bat**** insane.

It was still pretty awesome, and I enjoyed the rich artwork. I wouldn't put it on scale with, say, Quest for Glory IV, but it was definitely a step above quite a few of the adventure games I've played.

Now, onward... to King's Quest VI!

^Yeah, those Lucasarts adventure games, I tell you. "Yeah, the kids will have no problem with this puzzle. I mean, it stumped all our testers and caused that Rubik's Cube champ we hired to curl up weeping into a foetal position, but hey--people like a challenge."

I didn't think you could die in Lucasarts Adventure Games...

Maybe they're trying something different.

^Well, you can die in CMI, but it doesn't last.

^ NN was quoting the game. I didn't know so many people on here had played adventure games.

Let me rephrase that: I didn't think anyone at VGF had ever touched a PC Adventure game with a 9 foot pole.

You'd be surprised at how many quotes from that game I can rattle off despite not playing the game for many years.

WHERE'S DINGHY DOG?!

Hmmm, it seems relevant to mention that no matter what computer you're on, you can play almost any version of Monkey Island you have using SCUMMvm, which I can't link yet, but it'll be at the top of any google search.

You can even play them on DS, which is just sweet.

All sentiments agreed, it was rather difficult to figure out just how to get past certain areas. You know, getting the seagull away from the meat outside the kitchen, plus almost drowning due to that statue tied to your leg.

One of the most brilliant scenes in that game has to be the fight between Guybrush and the sheriff in the governor's mansion.

P.S. Just kidding about the difficulty figuring out the statue puzzle.
