Crappy laptop battery?

For some reason, after I use my laptop off the AC power, when it gets down to around 15% left, when I plug it back in, it says the battery is not charging, and the battery diagnostics says it needs to be replaced. But lo and behold, when I take the battery out for a while, then put it back in, it charges like normal.

Any explanation and solution or am I damned to buy yet another laptop battery (Since I'm buying one for my mom for her birthday)

Pretty sure I had complained about this before. I have no idea what you're supposed to do about it, though. I'm used to dealing with ****ty computers by now.

But my battery can still hold a charge. It can only hold about an hour and a half of continuous power opened, but still.
