I'm thinking about buying something, but my current processor is .4GHz below the reqs. (2.4 needed, have 2.0) Other than that speed, everything else is significantly above what is needed (including the other processor stats). I've also gotten away with running under speed before, but with smaller differences. (.1-.2) (granted it was with lots of skipping, but even the start menu crashed on that computer) I've read elsewhere that processor speed is usually not important running things, but they haven't been very clear as to what extent that is true for. Will I be able to run it, or should I look for something simpler? |

If you are trying to run Commander Keen, then you have more than enough; if you are trying to run any game which uses CryEngine2, no, nothing on Earth can run that. Games which really tax the system are going to depend more on the video card and the amount of RAM you have, though; processor speed is rarely the bottleneck nowadays. |

It was asking for a Pentium 4 @2.4/Athlon 64 2800+. (I'm running a Turion 64 X2 TL-60) I forgot to look at the Athlon as well, and that's only a 1.8. (meaning everything is well above minimum) |

The ghz level is really just how much electricity passes through it, and doesn't specifically measure the capablities of the processor. |
