Question Anyone interested in putting together a DOOM 1 or 2 coop game?

Anyone interested in putting together a DOOM 1 or 2 coop game?

We can try to coordinate it of Zdaemon or something else. Any takers? I know SD and I will play, so thats 2 already.

Requirements are just having the same version of the Doom WAD, which is easily solvable.

Hmm, I've never played co-op in Doom before. How would it work exactly? Would it be a single session? Is there a specific time we'd need to congregate?

Sounds fun, though. I'll probably go for it.

Me and SK play on Skulltag alot. I'm not sure how Zdaemon works, It might be better for playing with friends.

e: actually it looks like the same thing. except Zdaemon doesn't have invasion mode.

The steam version won't work, but It's not an issue if you don't have it.

Ah, well basically I start a coop server and you guys join up. The levels progress from one to the next when they are defeated (find a switch, go through the teleporter, whatever). We all spawn in similar places. Difficulty is adjustable like normal.

And yeah, we'd have to pick a time to do it after everyone gets the software.

Since TG and SK have Skull Tag maybe we'll use that instead of Zdaemon.

I have the wads for both Doom and Doom 2. It shouldn't be that hard to get Zdaemon.

I'd do it.

Remember, we all have to have the same WAD. You wanna put yours up for grabs, TG, since you and SK already have it, or should I?

Anyone who's interested in playing should download and install Skulltag:

Download - Skulltag

Okay, so I'd like to do this over the weekend, and consider future dates. What time is good for you folks? I'm open to suggestion.

L007 thinks about 1AM CST would be good, but can't do it this weekend- any other suggestions? I can play during the day but it has to be on the weekend. My weekend is mostly free, though. I've got work from 3PM to about 9PM weekdays my time, which is about 1AM to 7AM EST, so unless you guys can do something earlier than that weekdays are out.

I've got a four-day weekend this week, actually, so I've got plenty of time, and I can stay up late if needed. Really, time shouldn't be an issue for me from Friday afternoon to Tuesday evening.

I'm in Pacific Standard Time (U.S. west coast), FYI.

Actually, you can use the Steam version. Simply download Zdaemon and use the auto-scan feature, and it will find the WADS you have installed. This will work with the Master Levels and Doom II as well.
For more information, see Source Ports, and how to use them! - Steam Users' Forums

I recommend setting up a Teamspeak or Ventrilo server too so that everyone can all talk.

I don't see the problem with typing. Haven't got a mic, anyway. I thought Steam version had an embedded WAD. Either way, we have to use the same version so it's really just easier to redistribute a specific one.

Well, it's easiest to use Zdaemon as it takes the hassle out of WAD management.
The WADs are in open directories with the Steam versions (I own all of them on Steam).

Anyone heard from TG? If you guys have AIM I suggest you PM your screen name to me so I can try to organize this better. I think we could probably coordinate something on Sunday easiest, although tonight is open for me.

on weekdays anytime after 4:00 pm is good. On weekends any time after 1:00 is safe just in case I can't wake myself up. I don't really have anything to do this week so nothing gets in the way.

loot, check your steam folders for the Doom/Doom2 WAD file, if your using skulltag or zdaemon thats all you need.

e: aim is in my profile.

So Karg, TG, SK, and I finally got a game together and played the first episode of Doom on survival coop. It was pretty cool. I died during one level and got to watch Karg run around and get lost. XD

^ oops, didn't see your post.
