Spore has consumed my soul. As of this moment, hoards of Scarevolk spacecraft are approaching Earth from planet Vltra, with the sole intent of blasting us to smithereens and stealing our spice for themselves. This game is way too fun for its own good.

The lack of Spore on most GotY lists make me wonder what the critics writing them are on.

Spore was a huge, huge disappointment for me. The creature stage was fun for a little while but got boring after about three playthroughs. The space stage had the potential to be cool but became monotonous. If only the same spacefaring civilization that produced one ship could produce... another ship, maybe I wouldn't have to come back to my goddamn home planet every five minutes to fight off some ****ty raiders. But no, I have to personally deal with every little incursion that comes along. Plus the space combat sucks, you just click on something until it dies.

I got bored and stopped playing a little after finding the Grax or whatever, in part because it was too difficult to fight off their invasion. Speaking of which, going to the center of the galaxy was retarded. I had to just randomly hop through wormholes until I got there, and then it took me forever to get home because I couldn't find the random wormhole to take me there.

The other stages are barely worth mentioning. They were slightly amusing one time and after that just got boring. All in all I'm pretty pissed that I spent 50 bucks on the thing. Designing creatures might have saved it if anything about the creature had actually mattered aside from what parts you put on it... and not even that mattered after you left the Creature stage. The rest of the design parts weren't too exciting... I find it hard to believe that anyone really cared enough to design unique buildings for Space Colony #11 (or #2).

So... yeah. Strongly disagree with you.
