Help me find an MMORPG!

I have some criteria to stick to in order to find the right one...

It needs to be a free flash based java free browser based MMORPG which does not require downloading, with a typical fantasy setting.

Yep, yep. I have never played an MMO before and decided that I'd like to get into one, deciding that you guys would probably know of some good ones. List 'em off! Thanks!

Heh, I wouldn't know, but either way, the MMORPG needs to...not require it.

I can name some good browser based MMO's, but they're text based and not MMO's.

I don't know a lot about MMORPGs, but I can't see one working very well in Flash. Good luck finding one, though.

AdventureQuest Worlds: Web Browser Massively Multiplayer Game

Used to have the same problem.
A couple of the servers only have, "canned chat", but I'm pretty sure the majority actually allow you to type in what you want to say.
And there are alot of things (items, quests, etc.) that you can miss out on without donating, but it is in fact, free, and quite fun.

Best part is that there is NO download required.

Role Playing Game

Examples: Final Fantasy, Pok'emon, Kingdom Hearts, The Sims, Rogue Galaxy, ~~Shadow of the collosuss~~,The Legend of Zelda series, etc...

In this case he's looking for a generic fantasy world style MMO-RPG.

The MMO, stands for ,"Massive Multiplayer Online".

The idea of RPG video games is usually thought to have been inspired by the RPG Board games, like Dungeons and Dragons. (I don't honestly know if that's true or not thogh.)

I'd also like to know why you want it to be in the browser.
No matter what, you'll have to download content - it'll just be in your browser.

Anyways, MMORPGs are the closest thing to an actual role-playing game as you can get without actually going out and playing something like D&D. Most games filed in the RPG genre are actually a mix of strategy and visual novel (especially Japanese RPGs). HP, armour, NPCs ambling around aimlessly, random encounters, experience points -- these are necessary to role-playing per se, but if we don't see these things we tend to call those games "action/adventure" or whatever weaksauce name.

Rouge galaxy is an action RPG. The sims fits under category of ," Roleplaying and simulation", so it's technically an RPG. Shadow of the collosus is, well, nevermind, I guess you got me beat on it...

It's a goofy game that's kind of a parody of RPGs in general, but it's pretty fun.
