I got it, but it was the most boring game of Civ imaginable. I just sat there with two cities pumping out culture and techs and building wonders. At one point I conquered a city-state so that a couple other city-states would be my ally, but it turned out to just be a huge gold suck. Eventually Persia conquered it (it was halfway across the world and I had no units there... I only had like 3-5 units at a time anyway, even fewer before I conquered the city-state). The only tangible result was that I got +20 gold per turn because I didn't have to maintain its buildings. I get wanting to support alternate styles of play, but playing for Culture is just seriously boring as ****. You can't even build or conquer a bunch of cities like you might if you were going for science, because every new city makes the social policy cost shoot up by 30%. Lame. (Also I happened to be playing as America. Their bonuses seem totally worthless, though the Minuteman is decent.) |
