IMO, this is the best roguelike out of any I've ever played, (NH, ADOM, Angband, Spleunky, ZapM), by FAR. It's quite well-balanced (you basically can't scum at all) but also so brutally difficult that it makes NetHack look easy. Everything about this game shines - the religion system, that different races play very differently, the magic system, and all the awesome items you can find. If you like roguelikes and haven't played this, you need to. RIGHT NOW. For those of you who have played it: Have you ever beaten it? I once got 2/3 runes (Swamp and Snake Pit) as a Naga Wizard, and then died somewhere in the Vaults to a nasty combination of a Daeva and a yaktaur captain. That death was completely avoidable, too, but I got greedy and didn't 'waste' a potion of heal wounds. That causes a lot of my deaths, actually. |

I was also addicted to Desktop Dungeons for a while (please, DO NOT play that-- it's pretty crappy and heavily addictive, in no way worth it). Does this one require a numpad? If not I'll check it out. |

As far as movement I just use the arrow keys, and if I have to move diagonally or something I'll use the regular number key (7 is northwest, 1 is southwest, 5 is idle, etc.) |

It's the most fun I've ever had with a rougelike (and that's saying something, since I usually don't like them). |

Oh, yeah - I occasionally play Troll Beserkers, but they're just so... straightforward. Not as fun for me as a spellcaster. And I usually don't like roguelikes either... go figure. | |

Alright, I'll probably give it a shot. edit: Yeah, I've downloaded it and been playing. It's pretty good, easier to figure out than ADOM since it has graphics and mouse commands. Also I love the auto-explore. Not sure I actually like it better than ADOM but at least I can play it fairly comfortably without a numpad. (I did give up on learning the stupid Rogue controls though, I just use the arrow keys, plus the mouse if I have to move diagonally.) For some ****ing reason though, I can't find a way to view the file of your dead character. Also, since hitting any key twice takes you past the death screen, probably my best character just died and I have no ****ing reason why. ****ing infuriating. That alone makes ADOM a lot better.
