Doom 3, Hell

Wow, so that was fantastically short-lived. The Hell area/level, I mean. It was like full-fledged Doom for a while, and then you just leave. Kind of disappointing, when it was actually what I was kind of expecting from a sequel to Doom 2.

Really wish they didn't try to make everything more on-edge with enemies teleporting in and all. It's very stressing but not very frightening. I'd rather take the good clean fights from the older games, in that regard, because if a door opened behind you at least there was some indication of where it could happen.

That said, man that hell area was really cool. Anyone else play this far in Doom 3?

I beat Doom 3 a few years ago. Yeah, Hell was probably the coolest part of the game.

I preferred the style and gameplay of Doom/Doom II, but for what it's worth, I still thought 3 was a good game. I never got around to playing the expansion, though.

I didn't get that far. I think mainly due to boredom. I know my dad completed it, even tho he only played it for a hour or so every day. Gave him motion sickness.

Do you have the expansion pack with the Gravity Gun Ripoff?

Also, never played Doom 3. It probably has to do with my computer not being up to snuff and being a decade old or something like that. >_>

No, I don't have the Resurrection pack. I might get it, but probably not. There have been so many high-quality titles since the last time I had a pc capable of running them, I'm basically up to my neck in unplayed games and it's a blast.

I could understand the only playing for an hour or so, Doc. I get pretty worked up and I save very very frequently. Like I said, though, it's not frightening so much as it is a high-stress experience. It's funny how they aimed for one thing and managed to miss and hit something else like that, because it's very effective at giving me a battle-stress feeling, but nothing truly unexpected really happens since you're in mind for horror and they're big on the conventions.

Annoying jump scares aren't really my forte. Saw it once, then was vaguely amazed that Metroid Prime could match it in art direction, then ultimately went on to exceed it, when it used to be so amazing.

You kidding? As much as I love the Prime series, it never looks this good. Prime 3 comes close, but simply can't match it blow for blow.

doom 3 was pretty fun and yeah hell was the best part.

some of the levels are too similar though. it always changes things up, but it usually takes to long to do so
