Personally, I'd like to see a black person get voted into office. Then maybe we could have the entire KKK sent to the chair.

So, in other words, you'd like to see the First Amendment destroyed and have us enter some kind of totalitarian system in which people with opinions different from those of the majority would be put to death? In that case, why don't we just let Saddam Hussein out of prison and install him in the Oval Office?

He [Kennedy] didn't serve long enough to do anything that would qualify him as a notably good president.

President Kennedy's economic programs launched the country on its longest sustained expansion since World War II. He also took vigorous action in the cause of equal rights, calling for new civil rights legislation.

Shortly after his inauguration, Kennedy permitted a group of Cuban exiles to invade Cuba in an attempt to overthrow the regime of Fidel Castro. The invasion was a failure. In 1962 the Russians began to install nuclear missiles in Cuba. When this was discovered in October of 1962, Kennedy imposed a quarantine on all offensive weapons bound for Cuba. With the world on the brink of nuclear war, the Russians backed down and agreed to remove the missiles. Kennedy asserted that both the Russians and Americans had a vital interest in stopping the spread of nuclear weapons and the arms race. To this end his administration negotiated the test ban treaty of 1963.

Holy ****, he didn't accomplish anything did he? You buffoon. The worst thing in his administration was the Bay of Pigs, which was a holdover from the last administration, and he was basically forced to go with that plan since he accused Nixon (as VP in Ike's admin) of being too weak on Communism. He rebounded with the Cuban Missile Crisis and prevented a nuclear (not NOOKYOOLUR) war when we were on the brink of a shooting war with the USSR. Test ban treaties, push for civil rights, economic pushes, THE SPACE PROGRAM, etc.

Both. He was great because he brought the massive deficit to the front of the issue world (triggering Clinton to start deficit reforms). However, he was way too nutty to survive in the election (and his VP choice sucked).

True, but I'd really like a President that didn't make the entire country look like a group of illiterate rednecks (we do that perfectly fine by ourselves).

Aside from the fact that the vast majority of abortions occur before major development, and aside from the fact that the judicial system is inherantly flawed against minorities and the poor, those were weak points. See, I honestly do not care about morality politics when the economy and job market sucks. I couldn't care less if a corp is doing great when they outsource the middle class tech sector, or when they outsource labor class manufacturing to sweatshop conditions in countries in Central America or Asia so they can profit more by paying workers fifty cents a day.

I think conservatives want the same thing, but we just want a different method of doing it. And liberals tend to be a little more vocal in their assesment of things.

And I'd call liberals who are more to the center "progressives", rather than liberals. When I hear liberal, i think of Gineene Gerafalo, who is the most annoying SOB ever.

Progressive is a term that's usually out of the normal "liberal-conservative" line. Progressives are usually more focused on social change and moving forward (ie: Teddy Roosevelt's administration).
