It says not by SPRING 2005. Draft is getting more support in Congress due to homeland security and increasing strain on the military. This bill gets reintroduced every session, yet gains more support every time.

They better not mess up my scholarships.

Well, I personally do not want the draft reinstated.

But, if it is, I will not leave just so I can avoid it. I'll fight. Even if some people think this war is wrong, just think of the soldiers already over there fighting for us here. Think of those volunteers. By saying you'll leave the US and avoid the draft... well, how disheartening for those soldiers who are willing to give their lives, while you catch a plane out of the country.

Even if you do not believe in this war, believe in those who have already sacrificed their lives, and those willing to sacrifice their lives. That's about all I have to say.

^Just glance at Lurch's rank to see what I think of that...

People willing to give their lives for their country are free to do so anytime they please, with my blessing, no less. I am not one of those people, and I have no intention of being forced to be one of those people. There is no way I would fight in this war, or almost certainly any war. If that involved fleeing the country, so be it.

^I agree with you. I am not going to fight in a war that I feel is completely unnecisary. I mean, this is a free country, and we should choose wether we want to fight or not, not let some blind-folded person pick names out of a bucket and have the government force us to.

It's strange how the government would abolish people's right of choice just to protect people's rights. Kind of Ironic, wouldn't you say?

^Yeah, it's called a trade-off.

Anyway, this is so obviously not going to happen. Democrats in the Senate would filibuster to no end. No Congressperson would vote for this act before the election, because it would be suicide, and after Democrats will undoubtedly win back at least one house of Congress, thusly killing the bill. Hell, most Republicans won't even vote for this. It's totally ridiculous.

^As ridiculus as it may seem, it could happen.

If it happened once, it could very well happen again.

What if that war were just? Would you still not fight a just war?

I said that I did not want the draft reinstated. I agree with you there, however...

I am simply saying that people should consider those soldiers fighting, before they decide to hitch a ride out of the US. Think of the others sacrifice.

I never said I didn't think of the people over there. Like everyday I pray that this stinkin war will end so these people can get back to their families. I admire their courage, dedication, and devotion to this country, I'm just saying that people who can't offer that same kind of value shouldn't be forced to fight.

I don't like war. I mean, I can read about them and see them in movies with no problem, but when I think about me leaving my family to go to a place I don't know and taking lives away from people, it's just unbearable. I could never picture myself aiming a gun at another person with the intention of killing.

War is just wrong.

^You're right... war is wrong. But, we will never live in a world without war. And it's because of human nature.

Human nature is unchanging. Humans have the capablilities of thinking on their own, and believing in whatever they want. This is why there is war. Always, we will have humans that disagree with each other, and that escalates a thousand times, and then war is created. And, because human nature is unchanging, and because people's beliefs and differences in life are unchanging, there will always be war.

However, I want to be on the side that wins, and if that means that I have to go fight, well, then I will.

^ Of course they don't. Which is the perfect reason why they should at least attempt to help their country win.

What we need is a war that's actually justifiable... where there is really a clear-cut enemy for all of us to face.

What the hell is taking that Anti-Christ so damn long, anyway?

I probably wouldn't fight a just war. I'd root for the guys that did, believe me, but I wouldn't go myself. Not for any moral reasons. I just really don't want to be involved in a war.

^^^Well, we had Hitler... if it was something like that, on that scale, I might fight. Or at least do something, probably wouldn't go front-lines.

No need to worry. With the average american being terribly obese, I don't think they'll have much use for us random citizens.
