^Well yeah, but you know the main reason people didn't vote for him is because of the sex scandal. It was a big minus on his popularity. Which shouldn't have happened. People need to learn to keep their damn noses to themselves...

And for kicks:

'I... did not have relations... with Monica... but ah am wearin' her underwear.'

^The perjury thing was kind of a turnoff too, but he'd already been re-elected by then.

Guys. Reagan.

Ronnie'd left us long ago. It's only now he's been cut some slack. This remembrance is a wee late. But neccessary all the same.

I was born the year he took office. I wish I hadn't been such a mush-headed child during the 80's (for this, and a lot of reasons). He was one of many of the people who made the 80's awesome.

Including:
Mr. T
Shigeru Miyamoto
Don "Mr. Wizard" Herbert
Harrisson Ford
Nancy Reagan
Mikhail Gorbechev
Max Headroom
Michael J. Fox

Sure, he got a few things wrong (he hated to think there was racism in America, and he wasn't paying attention when his subordinates illegally funneled money to the Contras, though that was, in the grand scope of things, a kinda noble act), but he made Americans proud to BE Americans again. I was just listening to some of his speeches on television, and they made me feel all... warm and fuzzy all over. I badly wish I could go back and live in his America (this time, paying attention). What a vision he had.

He lowered taxes (which had a ripple effect around the world as well), lowered the interest rates, tightened up welfare, oversaw vast economic recovery when we needed it BAD, identified Communist U.S.S.R. as the 'Evil Empire', negotiated reductions in nuclear arms with said Evil Empire, ended the Cold War (without a war! Yaay!), beat an assassination attempt, beat cancer, and made America look GOOD to the world by doing what he felt was right, despite everyone calling him a jelly-brained goof, a pawn, aloof, unpresidential, insensitive, ignorant, and (this baffled me in light of the other accusations, but this was politics, not sense) a devious schemer.

He proved the best people in the world have convictions, but are still civil and well-mannered about them. (Some people here could learn that...)

He was the guy they were thinking of when they wrote the lines in the old NES game Bad Dudes "Are you bad enough to rescue the President?" It all makes sense now.

Ever seen that one SNL sketch with Phil Hartman as Reagan in a meeting with some generals, and whenever someone else came in, he acted like a goofy grandpa, but when he was alone with the generals, he was like Patton?

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

^^ That's a hilarious sketch.

Phil Hartman... that man deserves his own holiday.

It's Alzimsers (Which I need to learn to spell). People would eventually forget how to swallow, thus killing them.

Who's Vice President? Jerry Lewis? I suppose Jane Wyman is the first lady. And Jack Benny is secretary of the treasury.

Personally, I've had enough of news networks constantly broadcasting crap about Ronald Reagan. I know it's terrible that he died and everything, but it's been a week. We gotta move on.

It's not even terrible, is it? I mean, the man was pretty much dead internally. It was his time to go. He lived a long life. Hell, with all of the media hype, you'd think he was assassinated or something.

Oh, come on, Bolt, he was the freakin' president. Besides, it's not every year that a president dies.

^And a darn good one, at that.

Yeah, he's been internally dead for some time, but we never really had a moment to begin 'mourning' him.
