I only know this guy from a South Park episode, and I happen to know one song by him: Super Freak.

"Super Freak" was the hit that made people recognize him, then he screwed up after that and went into the drug slum,
I know to a lot of ol' school R&B/Funk listeners and African Americans he was well known, though some of the new generation "whites" ( Iprefer to generalize by name and not race, but hell) may not know about him.

Well I grew up as a little kid during the time that Rick James enjoyed the high light of his career. And by far my favorite memory of him will be his eternal ballad for all POT SMOKERS !!
