Kerry will have to come out big if he expects to win this election.

And he did. Bush was clearly on the defensive. "We won the war too quickly" = Worst cop out ever. All his claims about Kerry's flip flopping just rang hollow - Kerry did a fantastic job of ironing out his points, and that will give him a major leg up down the home stretch. Bush didn't do badly, although at the beginning he stumbled quite a bit, and he seemed to be rather nervous - what was with interrupting the moderator all the time?

The winner: Jim Lehrer.

Best line: "He went to Yale, but I can forgive that." ~Dubya

And remember: "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

What channels did you watch it on? I caught it on CSPAN's splitscreen that showed both podiums at the same time. Made Kerry look extremely presidential, whereas it made Bush look unsure, inept, and generally bad.

Yeah, Kerry definitely did well last night... I thought that Bush came out as a sort of, well, unprepared idiot. It was pretty interesting...

I missed the debate, but all of the analysts (except the obviously Pro-Bush ones) have said that John Kerry definitely did better. The clips I saw showed this too.

Kids at my school (we're a Catholic school, so we have a good number of conservative kids, well, kids that think they support Bush but don't know jack **** about politics and only go by what their parents say) think that Bush did better because he sounds like a "normal, average american" while John Kerry went on and on and talked (isn't that the point of a debate?). I don't get why everyone says that Bush is good because he's like an average Americn; first of all, he isn't an average American, and talking in a goofy accent doesn't make him so. Second, do you really want the average American in charge of one of the most powerful nations in the world?

I actually think Kerry is more of an average american than bush. Kerry actually seems like more of a fun kind of guy. Key word: More. Neither of them are a lot like it.

Did anyone else notice Bush tried to use the word proliferated without knowing its meaning, so he just used in really broad contexts?

But yeah, I don't like either, but when ya get right down to it Kerry's a lot more charismatic and could fire off points faster than bush could. Plus Bush's three-second pauses reeeally hurt him in my book. They showed hesitation and fright, two things I don't wanna see in any president.

Well, performance and delivery wise, Kerry kicked butt. However, content wise, I believe Bush won. I just agree with his policies for the war more than Kerry's. Both were even, because in my book, each had one-up on the other in a certain aspect.

Bush did not look good, but I am just inclined to agree with his views and ideas more. And let's face it, Bush is not the most articulate president, so of course Kerry is going to look better in that aspect. I tried to pay more attention to the actual ideas... in the end, the ideas, not how well the person can speak, is what affects this country.

It's like Carville/Affleck said, "You beat the man in a talking contest. That's like Wilt Chamberlain playing basketball against Stephen Hawking and winning by two points."

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

OF COURSE HE'LL WIN "CONTENT WISE" IF YOU AGREE WITH EVERYTHING HE SAYS.

And I'd still pick Wilt Chamberlain for my basketball team, or pick Hawkin for my nerd-team.

Kerry aparently forgot to mention that Poland was one of the countries who was helping us with the Iraq War before it dropped out, like Italy did.
