I can't say I felt either of them really outperformed the other - Cheney had some cute one-timers, e.g., the one about not having met Edwards until the night of the debate. But really they both had their moments. Best moment of the debate - at the end, Edwards said "I'd like to thank our moderator, my opponent, and the people of blah blah" or something to that extent, and then Cheney said the exact same thing, conspicuously excepting the nod to his opponent. That had me laughing my proverbial ass off. |

He's publically met Edwards at least twice (once addressing him by name). Image is 95% of politics. Bush can get away with looking like a bumbling idiot because people see him as "like them." Chaney is like a pissed off old man that takes footballs from little kids just to pop them and screams "GET OFF MY LAWN." Chaney comes off like a Howitser because he's a mean-hearted bastard. Sadly, mean-hearted bastards rarely do well at the polls. |
