Arrow Objection!

Criminal court is supposed to be a more serious and solemn affair. I think in the age where (in America) you can televise court proceedings, this sort of thing is lost on the general public.

The judge was perfectly just in doing so, and it really has nothing to do with religion/state seperation either. Judges (generally) do not like their courtrooms to get out of hand, regardless of what people see on Judge Judy or whatever. Some guy screaming PRAISE JESUS after he brought both sides to the bench and requested that there be no outbursts. The charges were dropped because the defense attorney didn't pass that along, so it isn't even a big deal.

The judge would have been in for a serious publicity nightmare if he didn't drop the charges.

Well, that and the charges wouldn't have stuck because he didn't have the warning passed to him. Regardless, courtrooms shouldn't be subject to outbursts, regardless of the content.
