Chinese Censors:Jackie Chan can't play a bad guy

"In the first draft of the script, my character is the most evil I've ever been. He hits women, burns people with cigarettes. But it was rejected by censors. The Chinese government said Jackie Chan can't be so evil," Chan reportedly said.

I always thought that Jackie Chan just refused to play bad guys because he didn't want his younger fans to see him in a role like that...

I've always preferred Jet Li and Gordon Liu films, anyways. But that's a different topic.

Even after the turnover, Hong Kong is still >>>>>>> Hollywood.

Hollywood would let Jackie film that script. Then they would interfere later on, resulting in a watered-down, lackluster end product, but at least it would get made.
