Lawmaker says teachers should be allowed to carry guns

Quote:
GREEN BAY (AP) — The recent string of school shootings has prompted a Wisconsin lawmaker to propose arming teachers with guns.
Republican state Representative Frank Lasee says it's a concept that's worked in Israel and Thailand, so why not Wisconsin?

Lasee says if teachers had guns, students or others would think twice about committing acts of violence in schools.

Lasee is from Bellevue, near Green Bay, where an attack on a school was recently prevented.

Under his proposal, no teacher would be required to carry a weapon, but those who want to would get extensive training.

He plans to introduce the bill at the start of next year's session.

Some people don't think it's a good idea. The Middleton-Cross Plains schools superintendent says it's only asking for more trouble.

Come on, that just makes problems more likely. I had one high school teacher who I know would not have been able to have a gun in his posession properly.

I hate to have to say this again, but anywhere in Wisconsin outside of Madison and Milwaukee is a bunch of crazy hicks.

It's like deja vu all over again.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"
