Dean just completely lost the Presidency. Kerry and Clark are going to have a field day with this.

Disagree. Clark's military experience is a major plusClinton, Quayle. There are tons of others, and especially considering that the baby-boomer crowd will be voiting, I don't see how this will hurt him. At least he had a fairly reputable condition (skiing doesn't put nearly as much stress on your back as running with 75 pounds worth of gear would).

If he was legally excused, then by definition he's not a draft dodger.
It was a pretty stupid excuse, especially since he said he probably could've served anyway, but it's still not dodging.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

If he had a valid medical excuse to skip the draft, nobody is going to care.

So what if he dodged a draft?

Bill Clinton dodged a draft, too, and we kept him in office for eight years.

8 years of Clinton was a mistake. And it will be used as ammo against Dean during the election. At least Bush actually went into the military.

Please. Bush had a national guard spot handed to him and was trained on a plane that was being phased out due to connections. No, his father served in the Pacific theatre...that's not dodging. Bush Jr. sat around in the Texas National Guard and had things handed to him (like an outdated plane), and had special privleges.

Hey, if Dean didn't dodge, then Bush definitely didn't. And Dean didn't dodge.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Given how few Americans serve in the military these days, military service doesn't mean as much anymore. It's not personally relevant to the vast majority of people in society these days. Granted having served in the military might convince people you can handle the war on terrorism effectively.
