Seriously, "master" and "slave" used to be the standard names for drives (although "primary" and "secondary" are more mainstream now, for multiple reasons.) BUT GIVE ME A BREAK! American slavery ruined the whole instutution. Damn colonists. |

| Guest | Were any of the complainers slaves? Were their parents? Were their grandparents? Were most of their great-grandparents? Cagareha, you guys think that's bad; I've got a black kid in my class who complains about his "slave heritage" all the time....but he was BORN in Africa! He's the first generation of his family to live in America! No one in his family line was ever a slave! People shouldn't, but they do. And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!" |

Some African countries still have masters and slaves today. Just because it involves a "master" and a "slave" doesn't mean white people hate black people. If the "master" device was white, and the "slave" device was black, I'd agree with them. But this is ridiculous. People! In ancient Africa, Rome, and basically everywhere else in the ancient world, slavery was performed between debtors and losers and conquerors. It wasn't even a matter of inferiority or race. American slavery screwed everything up. ...and this over-PC nightmare is making everything worse (no pun intended.) |

| Guest | They should be blaming Africa for their ancestors being slaves. The African tribes sold them in the first place. What really gets me is how so many people call everything racist. You know that statue of the black lawn jockey that everyone says is racist? Back in the days of slavery, it meant "Runaway slaves are welcome in this house. Make yourselves at home here." In elementary, I once sat next to a black kid who always wanted to copy my homework. I said "No", and he said I wouldn't give it to me just because he was black. In Middle School, that same kid came over to me acting like we were buddies. I blew him off. ![]() Where are these lemmings going? The Super Nintendo Super Shire! Hop in line and follow them there! |

To get weapons from the Europeans, some tribes captured and sold members of other tribes to them. At least, I think that's how it worked...it seems like years since I took world history. Quote:

Idiot! Mark Twain was ANTI-SLAVERY. Huck Finn CONDEMNS IT LEFT AND RIGHT. If the book was truly racist, Huck wouldn't have his epiphany near the end!

I mean, is the computer saying to you "I AM YOUR M.A.S.T.E.R. YOU ARE MY S.L.A.V.E."? I don't see why the hell people try to sue for stupid things, es. for money... People today are greedy. __________________ ![]() WHAT HAS SCIENCE DONE?! |

| Guest | Mark Twain's books made some amazingly incisive observations on the world. The major argument presented against slavery in the Adventures of Huckeleberry Finn was that blacks were human beings like whites. He conveyed this argument by showing Jim as a noble black person that wanted freedom and having Huck Finn consider whether Jim's desire was morally right. Huck Finn eventually supports Jim because he realizes he's a good, responsible person with a strong character. |

The uses of the 'n' word was their cheif reson along with the treatment of the guy in the book whose name slips my mind. The lady started to yell at the expert who was sent to the school to explain how the book wasn't rascist. Yet the lady kept getting up and arguing with her about the same exact point without taking into consideration the point the expert had explained over and over and over again. The woman walked out and began to cry...no wait not out of the seminar. No. I remember. Out of the police station for trying to press charges against the expert. Bravo. Huck Finn isn't rascism, it's realism. [ December 01, 2003, 07:39 AM: Message edited by: Invader Rattan ]
