Kids understand that swears are bad and get a point across. Beyond that, their parents who taught them the words didn't teach them anything else.

I remember my friend's mom stopping the van to wash her youngest daughter's mouth out with soap. I applaud this teacher for not letting the idiot get off with a slap on the wrist. If she gets fired, or sued, I will be angry.
