I don't quite understand this part. Is the mother punishing her daughter for associating with the 'wrong people' in school or something?

I thought that was the mother of one of the robbers.

Yeah, you'd never be able to tell by the way Blake phrased his post: Burns was one of the burglars; her mom said the thing about bad association. The person who rammed the car was the mom of the hiding girl.
