So, here I am playing Pokemon again after quite a bit of a hiatus, and I notice that there are some pretty interesting things in the game. Things that'll make you think, or wonder, or, if you have a really strong imagination, wish you hadn't noticed some of them. A few that come to me right off the bat: Female Makuhita/Hariyama Male Gardevoir Getting KOed by Leech Life/Absorb/Mega Drain/Giga Drain/etc. Bite and Crunch, both physical attacks, use the Special Attack stat. Ghost attacks use Attack, not Special Attack. Gyarados is Flying-type, but does not fly. Seedot can actually be male or female. Grass-types lay eggs. The only grass/flying type pokemon is based on the largest and heaviest of all dinosaurs. Bug is resistant to Fighting (?!?) Dark is weak to Bug (?!?) There is still only one pokemon that evolves anywhere in the last 40 levels out of the 100 that are available. Still, only legendary pokemon (and very few of them) actually learn new moves anywhere in the last 30 levels. The last 30 or so levels of the 100 a pokemon can get in the game don't really mean much of anything, near as I can tell. Anyone else got anything? |

Voltorb/Electrode, Baltoy/Claydol, Magnemite/Magneton, and Staryu/Starmie cannot be bred (Even though, for instance, Geodude, Nosepass, and Chimecho can). Grimer/Muk, Koffing/Weezing, Gulpin/Swalot, Slugma/Magcargo, Castform and Chimecho are in the same breeding group as Ralts/Kirlia/Gardevoir, Banette/Shuppet, and Wobbuffet. You can breed Silcoon and Cascoon. Cacnea/Cacturne are in the same group as (Kad)Abra/Alakazam, Spinda, Meditite/Medicham, Makuhita/Hariyama, Machop/Machoke/Machamp Sableye, Illumise, and Volbeat. (Come to think of it, Illumise and Volbeat are a pretty wierd inclusion in the 'Humanoid' group themselves.) Seviper is in the Dragon breeding group (Bagon/Feebas/Horsea/Magikarp/Swablu) along with Treecko, but Flygon isn't. Apparently, Wingull/Pelipper is compatible with Clamperl/Gorebyss/Gulpfer. Similarly Spheal/Sealeo/Walrein is compatible with Surskit/Masquerain. Whismur/Loudred/Exploud is not in the Humanoid group, but it is in a breeding group that includes Torkoal and Wailmer. Anorith/Armaldo, Corphish/Crawdaunt, Corsola, Lileep/Cradily, and Tentacool/Tentacruel is the contents of one of the Water groups. Plusle/Minun are not in the Ground breeding group, but Pikachu/Raichu is (This group also includes Rhyhorn/Rhydon, Wailmer/Wailord, Seedot/Nuzleaf/Shiftry, and for some reason, Seviper) Mawile is in the 'Fairy' breeding group. Come to mention it, so is Shroomish/Breloom. And Skitty/Delcatty. What, did they just really want to have more things in that group? Should have included some less-used semihumanoids (Like Illumise and Volbeat, which should really be here instead of in the Humanoid group...) Zubat/Golbat/Crobat is in the 'Birds' breeder group (all the rest of which ARE birds). |

I sit corrected. Though it is STILL wierd that Tropius is Flying. |
