| Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2001 Location: The state of Denial Gender: Posts: 6,869 Thanks: 9 Thanked 54 Times in 29 Posts | The best of Generation IV NOTE: Legendaries have their OWN Category. What are the best types of Generation IV, in your opinion? Fire: Obviously Infernape, though Chimchar's flaming ass DOES Cancel out any ownage he may give, despite having a bad move-set. (Feint...Wow, what a worthless move) Water: Empelon - Good type mixture, and having some flying move to use against grass-types is a plus. Runner up: Floatzel Grass: Torterra - It gets Earthquake practically by the time Grotle evolves into Infernape. Despite having a really bad weakness against flying types, it is a pretty good pokemon. Loads of health too. Runner up: Roserade. Roselia was a decent pokemon to have around, and Roserade is better...save for the fact that Budew requires the Happiness Evolution of DOOM. Electric: Luxray - There weren't many electric types in Generation IV, but Luxray certainly does his job very well. All in all, pretty much the feline-version of Manectric, and this is a very good thing. Bug: Vespiquen (Note: Drapion is disqualified for not actually being a bug-type) ...Well, the bug type in itself wasn't anything too good, except for Scizor, Heracross, and maybe Pinsir. Poison: Drapion / Toxicroak The Poison type really isn't that good, only really being good when it is a secondary type...Drapion and Toxicroak are pretty much the only ones who use the poison type correctly. Rock: Probably Borat-err I mean Probopass Probopass's giant nose and that huge moustace just makes me think "Yakesemash! My name is Borat!". I should xfer another Nosepass nicknamed "Borat" and evolve it. (Yes, Borat does have a huge nose...That Turkish dude who sued him had a much BIGGER nose) Ground: Probably Hippodown or Garchomp They're both pretty good 'Mons. Lots of health, attack, and defense. Garchomp is also worth the training, and give him Draco Meteor and he'll own all. Ice: Abomasnow A nice type mixture and some good stats-Save for the fact that one flamethrower will kill it. Flying: Staraptor Staraptor is pretty much the Sinnoh equivalent(sp) to Pidgeot. Very good attack and can use Aerial Ace pretty well. Psychic: Bronzong Bronzong doesn't have a very good moveset, but it has craploads of defense, making it a good meat shield with its Heatproof. It can learn earthquake though, and if it's got Levitate, then it can be a good combination with a Torterra or another Earthquake-user. Fighting: Lucario Lucario wins for having a really good type-mixture. However though, its steel type isn't really enough to save this poor thing from some attacks. Hopefully, your Lucario should kill the enemy with an Aura Sphere before it has a chance to kill it. Steel: Bronzong or Bastiodon The Steel Type isn't exactly known for being good, mostly as a secondary type that adds for defense. Bronzong and Bastiodon are both good examples of Steel type-Very high defense. Runner up: Obviously Lucario. Dark: Weavile It's finally worth it to train up a Sneasel this time around. Weavile with a Night Slash absolutely pwns most psychic pokemon. Giving it an X-Scissor can also help in its anti-psychic arsenal. Pretty much a Glass Canon, which helps in a type that doesn't have a lot of pokemon in it. Ghost: Spiritomb Low health, but Spiritomb, like Sableye, has no weakness. It's good against Psychic pokemon, and can even learn Silver Wind. Normal: None normal isn't really a good type...at all...Regigigas is good, but it's disqualified for being a legendary. Dragon: Garchomp - It's basically a clone of Flygon. Lots of attack and health, and a pretty good moveset. It's very good if you can give it Draco Meteor. Legendary: Regigigas - Insane stats (Save for Special attack) Despite its glaring weakness to fighting. Ugliest pokemon: Hard to tell. Some of those evolutions of pre-existing pokemon are pretty ugly, and Chimchar DOES have that flaming ass, but I'm going to have to say Mime Jr - It's almost as bad as Jynx, but it's ugly! Runner up: obviously Probopass-err I mean Borat. |

| Timelord. | Yeah, I've nothing to add. You've pretty much sumed it up. Although, am I the only person that thinks Shinx's family should have been part dark type. |

Edit: This is Wyborn, not Asnabel....forgot to log my brother out. Edit2: Wait, this is DS-gen only. Uh....carry on, then.... Last edited by Asnabel; 05-05-2007 at 04:53 PM. |

Luxray's cool, but there's only so much you can do with physical electric attacks. Rotom's special attack is pretty mean coupled with his speed. My Thunderbolt, Thunder wave, Confuse Ray, Shadow Ball moveset for him has been devastating so far. Normal would be Bibarel. STAB from Hyper Fang is good, and Super Fang can help with Pokemon that have insane HP. Give it Surf and Grass Knot and you've got yourself a fairly nice weapon. Flying, I'm partial to Honchkrow (as stated earlier). Great attacks on both ends and can utilize all of the many Physical flying and dark attacks and even get a nice special in there as well. Rotom is also great in the Ghost category, even though it doesn't resist as many things as Spiritomb does. It's immune to Earthquake, and in competitive play, that's fantastic. It's less than a third stronger than Thunder Fang or Spark, and Luxray's attack is so much higher than his Special Attack, especially with Rivalry, that it doesn't matter. His speed keeps him out of the running anyway. Electrics are only any good when they can outspeed what they're trying to hit - even Raichu probably need a positive speed nature. Electivire would probably be the best Electric from this generation. Him or Magnezone. |

His special attack is definitely rockin' awesome, especially with STAB'd Tri-Attack and Hyper Beam, plus Nasty Plot...that thing's deadly. Good call, Wy. I haven't looked into Togekiss as much. |

I mean, some of them just make me grimace in utter disgust. Like all generations, there will be the hated ones. More and more with each generation. One was awesome, two was okay, three was meh, four seems to be different with its "Space and Time" theme and oversized pokemon. But it's still lacking in many areas. Stunky? |
