Pokemon of the Week #50: Drifblim

(March has been goin' through a lot, he asked me to do this week. Update's a little late, my fault.)

Drifblim

Types: Ghost/Flying
Weaknesses: Ghost, Electric, Rock, Ice, Dark
Resistances: Ground (immune), Normal (immune), Fighting (immune), Grass, Poison, Bug
Abilities: Aftermath, Unburden
Best Stat: Sp. Attack

Shiny Drifblim look like this:

ML's suggested movesets:

Nature: Modest
EV's: Max out Sp. Attack and Sp. Defense, put the rest in Speed
Ability: Aftermath
Moves:
Shadow Ball
Calm Mind
Thunderbolt (/Silver Wind)
Psychic (/Silver Wind)

Special Sweeper set. Not gonna lie, this baby has quite the limited movepool. I went nuts when I saw this thing's type combo but when I saw that it didn't learn any flying attacks except Fly, I was pretty disappointed. Still, 3 immunities is nothing to scoff at.

It's a basic sweeper set, Calm Mind once or Twice and sweep away. Silver Wind is a possible move to take care of Psychic types, but that's just down to preference. It's really the only role I could ever see this Pokemon playing, other than...

Supporter set-
Nature: Calm
Ability: Aftermath
EV's: Max out Sp. Defense, Split the rest in Defense and Sp. attack
Moves:
Thunder Wave / Hypnosis / Will-o-wisp
Calm Mind
Baton Pass
Shadow Ball

Depends on your preference for the first move, but just infect them with something. I would go with Paralysis, because that's how I roll. Sleep is good but hypnosis's accuracy just kills me. After the foe is status'd, Calm Mind a couple times, and Baton Pass to your Special wall or sweeper. Shadow Ball is there for an attack if needed.

Overall: This guy is...interesting. Great type combo, pretty bad stats and movepool. But still, this guy could be useful if used correctly.

How do you expect us to believe Shadow Ball, Thunderbolt, & Psychic aren't great moves?
Also, how do they expect us to believe the name "Drifblim" wasn't just the result of someone falling asleep on the keyboard?

And remember, "I'm-a Charizard, number, well, six."

It's a combination of drift and blimp, so no, I don't think it was an accident. Then again, I'm not GameFreak, so who knows?

Don't get me wrong, those are great moves. But Blimster only has a base Sp. Attack of 90, and the only STAB'd move there is Shadow Ball. I mean, it barely learns any Flying attacks for it to nab the Grass, Fighting, and Bug types. Granted there aren't many special Flying moves, but that only just screws this guy over more.

If Drifblim learned Air Slash, that would be very nice.

It's an alright pokemon. Staraptor's better for offense, but Drifblim can be alright.

A good example of the support Drifblim is Flint of the l33t four, who has almost always used Baton Pass if I couldn't kill Drifblim on one hit. For anti-psychic types, I prefer Weavile or Spiritomb.

Shadowball
Baton Pass
Calm Mind
Minimize

Obviously, using him as a BPer.

Basically like mine, except yours is more positive. I prefer a status effect since it takes fewer turns to get a good effect out of, really. You need 2 or 3 turns to make Minimize really annoying, and you still have to get your Calm Minds in there as well. With a Status effect you just throw it on one turn and Calm Mind the rest.

HotD, I'm a big fan of Purple, but the shiny is pretty cool too.
