Okay, so pokemon have three growth natures. Hindering; Neutral; Beneficial. They also have natures such as "Shy." Now are all the natures they have grouped into that three, or are those three growth natures decided by something else? And the natures such as "Shy," I know they affect growth in some way, so if a pokemon has a certain nature, does it cause his Attack to grow more quickly? Depending on what he has? Now, I know there are shiny starters. Through this, I've deducted that you may obtain shiny pokemon through breeding. But I'm not certain, since...(See next question.) Can you? I'd love the idea of a shiny piplup, but I'm not going to hatch a thousand eggs for one that I'm not certain exists. But then again, Serebii states there are shiny Legendaries. Now you can't breed Legendaries, and that's what confuses me. Can you get them only through hacks? Or is there a one in eight thousand chance that when you face a legendary, he will shine? I'm just a little confused. Also, how many licks does it take to get to the tootsie roll center of a tootsie pop? |

Whether it's a hindering nature or a beneficial nature is up to the stat. Modest = +Sp. Attack, -Attack Adamant = +Attack, -Sp. Attack Modest is beneficial to Sp. Attack, but is hindering to Attack. Adamant is beneficial to Attack, but is hindering to Sp. Attack There are certain natures, like Quirky, that give no boost or decrease to any stat. If the second page of your Pokemon's summary says "Happily eats anything," it has a neutral nature. The + is a 10% increase in the stat and the - is a 10% decrease in the other stat. Natures are helpful, especially if you EV train. Bookmark this page if you want a quick referral to all natures: Serebii.net Games - Natures You can get shiny Starters, but that's just decided by luck. Same with shiny legendaries: Whether or not you have a shiny Dialga in your game is decided at the very beginning. You can breed for a shiny Piplup, but just remember the 1 in 8192 chance of getting an egg with a shiny in it. |
