| 72 and still going strong Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: Arizona Gender: Posts: 11,434 Thanks: 926 Thanked 393 Times in 270 Posts | Pokemon of the Week #56: Gallade Gallade Type: Psychic/Fighting Weaknesses: Flying, Ghost Resistances: Fighting. Rock Ability: Steadfast Best Stat: Attack Shiny Gallade looks like this: ML's Suggested Moveset: With a high Attack and Special Defense, Gallade is fairly versatile. Two this week (just pretend one was for last week, amirite?). Nature: Adamant EV's: 252 Attack, split the rest in Speed and Defense Item: Leftovers or Life Orb Moves: Psycho Cut Brick Break / Drain Punch Stone Edge Swords Dance / Night Slash Gallade has a very useful type combo, leaving itself only 2 weaknesses: Flying and Ghost. Stone Edge is there for flyers, but consider this before Night Slashing it up: The options coincide respectively: If you go Leftovers, use Brick Break. If you go Life Orb, use Drain Punch. I personally like the Life Orb / Drain Punch combo, despite the lack of PP. However, if you use Life Orb, I'd recommend Night Slash. Basically, the Swords Dancing is already done for you, and you're able to take out Gallade's other weakness. If you'd like to power up even more, feel free to Swords Dance to your heart's content and just hope that you won't be encountering any pure ghosts. Overall, this is a great sweeper and has a great movepool to complement its stats. Nature: Careful/Impish EV's: 126 Defense, 126 Sp. Defense, 126 HP, 126 Attack, 4 Speed Item: Salac Berry Moves: Substitute Focus Punch Psycho Cut Bulk Up This set is a little more in-depth. Sub-Punching is always awesome, and with the Salac berry, the deathly peril thing might actually help you out. Psycho Cut for STAB. The decision of the last two Buff moves are up to you. Both are great, but for the purposes of this moveset, I'd use Bulk Up. Feel free to play around with this moveset, it's a fun one. I use the Substitute Puncher set, except I'll have Thunder Wave instead of Bulk Up, although that seems like a great move. __________________ BETTER EXECUTE SOONER |

It can also learn the powerful close combat move and has plenty of PP for the STAB psycho cut and for leaf blade which helps in sweeping in the elite 4 against the ground-type pokemon. The only way it can learn ice punch is through the emerald move tutor as a ralts or kirlia. |

If Gallade's HP and/or Defense is high enough, the Substitute should be strong enough to withstand attacks without breaking. It would also give enough time for Gallade to recharge his HP. Very excellent typing and Attacks with STAB. __________________ BETTER EXECUTE SOONER |

It may just be mine, but I'd figure a Pokemon more adapted to physical attacks would have a better defense than special defense, but it doesn't. It's less than stellar HP and SPD don't help either. Other than that, Gallade is awesome. I have one in my party. |

Even using something like Aerial Ace with STAB can really hurt Gallade. I have a Shiny Gallade. I'm still considering if I want to use an imported Hariyama, Lucario, my Gallade to taunt Luigi007. |
