Pokemon of the Week #70: Tyranitar

Tyranitar

Type: Rock/Dark
Weaknesses: Fighting (x4), Water, Grass, Ground, Steel, Bug
Resistances: Psychic (immune), Ghost, Dark, Normal, Fire, Poison, Flying
Ability: Sand Stream - Whips up a Sandstorm, very handy, but I'll fill you in on that when it comes to movesets

Shiny Tyranitar looks like this:

March's movesets:

All right, the best part about Tyranitar is Sand Stream, because when Sandstorm is in play, Rock type Pokemon get a 50% Sp. Def. boost, so if you thought Tytar's stats were already Uber, after that, just think.

DD Set:
Nature: Jolly
EVs: 4 HP, 252 Atk., 252 Spd.
Item: Leftovers

Moves:
DD
EQ
Stone Edge
Crunch

Pure win.

Specs Set:
Nature: TImid or Modest
EVs: 4 HP, 252 Sp. Atk., 252 Spd.

Moves:
Dark Pulse
Dragon Pulse
T-Bolt
Ice Beam/Flamethrower

Special isn't quite the way to go with T-Tar, but it's usable.

Band/Scarf Tar
Nature: Jolly
EVs: 4 HP, 252 Atk, 252 Spd.
Item: Choice Band/Scarf

Moves:
Outrage
EQ
Stone Edge
Crunch

Yeah, that's T-tar for you.

I always thought he was a dragon type. :\ 0/10 for not being a cool badass dragon

Uh, 8/10. Simply for cool design. Haven't used him much.

HAND PUPPET!

Yeah, I remember looking all over for a Larvitar back in Gold.

I remember it being worth it.

^My question is, why use Speed EVs if you're going to knock down speed with a Quiet nature already?

The speed EVs is meant to outspeed a weezing before it can will-o-wisp. An alternate EV spread is 252 HP / 64 Atk / 168 SpA / 24 Spe which gives it little more focus punch power but lesser sp.atk and speed which is just enough to outspeed blissey.
