Northward Bound

Leavin' for the summer tomorrow, on my yearly contract with the BSA to teach archery to overprivileged smelly children. Still, $255 a week, plus room and board--there's worse ways to while away eight weeks. Barring any major mishaps or horrors, I'll probably be back in mid-August some time. Take care, all.

Archery was the only badge I ever took at camp that I couldn't finish there. (I couldn't get the qualifying targets.)
Then I went to a professional range and got my targets done in about a half-hour. Moral of the story? BSA archery equipment is cheap garbage.

Their rifles, on the other hand, are awesome. Finished those targets by the second day.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

Well, that's that over and done with. I've spent well over a year of my life up at camp by now. I swear, I'd hate it if I didn't love it so much.

Oh, and BSA archery equipment may be cheap garbage, but, under my watch, at least it isn't broken garbage.

OH NOES DOUBEL POST

Same deal. Camp. Two months. The woods. Archery. My sexy BSA Venturing uniform. It's a man's life. The only thing different about this summer is that I'm going to build a full-scale functional ballista in my free time. If I kill anything cool with it I'll tell you all about it when I get back.

RE-BUMP

Likely won't have time to post tomorrow for all the packing up I'll be doing, and then I'll be gone.

Have a good summer, everyone. Be safe--I want to see you all still alive in the fall. Remember--if you're hot and thirsty, drink out of a faucet or bubbler; do NOT drink out of a toilet, aquarium, mud puddle, gas pump, septic tank, human jugular, or lava flow. Important safety rule. Also, running through a sprinkler is a fun way to beat the heat; the same cannot be said for running through a plate glass window. Use some common sense--you're breaking your poor mother's heart.

Well, that's all. See you cats in August.

Salud!

It's a good thing Archery wasn't required...or I'd never be an Eagle Scout.

Have fun, and Godspeed!

Though, this IS VGF: some of us may have eaten others by the time you get back.

So what sort of abilities does each badge give you? Reflect lightning? Control level 80+ pokemon?

Well, as one would expect, an Archery badge grants the power to arch.
